Goodevening..
hboot 1.56...4.4...unlocked but NEVER s-off!! never firewater and rumrunner
never hdr 3.1...hdr 5.1...never viperone...never unsecure kernel...never windows 7...never in mac....never never!!
HELP dev please..

I have the same problem
Windows 7 X64 all drivers are ok and no firewall RHD41 RVHD51 MaximusHD32 OrDroid..nothing, not working for me

thank you for the hint , already tested with ubuntu 13.10 Desktop 32Bits version and not working, but i'll try again with ARHD 31.6 and ubuntu.

I have same prob hboot 1.56 & running 4.4.2 custom rom CM11 when I was on 1.55 it was working with same rom & same setting & after update my stock room & back again to cm11 & I see now I have 1.56 hboot & now rumrunner is not working for me ????
Any one here now
S-off with hboot 1.56

A utility that can verify downloads with an MD5 checksum

Before downloading an application and installing it on your computer, it is recommended to check that the installer has not been tampered with, especially if you grab it from a web hosting site. The safest way to do this is to compare its hash value with the one provided by the developer and make sure that they match. MD5 Checker is one of the applications you can use to perform this comparison.

This tiny tool is a portable one that does not require any installation and does not leave any traces within the Windows system registry. Also, it can be carried on a USB stick and launched whenever the need arises, regardless of the PC you are using.

The interface of MD5 Checker is intuitive enough to allow even those who are not accustomed with dealing with checksums to verify the integrity of their files.

In order to compare two distinct hash values, you need to select the file you want to process and the software automatically displays its MD5 checksum. Next, you need to copy the other value and use the “Paste” button to add it to its dedicated field, and the comparison result is immediately displayed.

If the two hash values are identical, this means that your file has not been modified and that you actually have the original package. If, on the other hand, they are different, it is best to look for another source to download the file, as the installer you have has been tampered with and might even be infected.

Another function provided by MD5 Checker is to generate checksums for any file you select – depending on its size, it might take some time to process it and create its hash.

MD5 Checker is a tiny application for comparing two MD5 checksums or generate them. However, it does not provide support for other types of hashsums (like SHA-1, SHA-256 or CRC32), so if you need to compare these types, you need to find another tool.

    I redo the process. Hopefully this will be helpful to you and others with hboot 1.56

    ROM : Stock 4.20.707.6
    PC : Win 8.1 with USB dirty hack (not needed for M7 but I did it because of other devices that I own need the hack for a proper working fastboot) - http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?p=49131915

    Before the S-Off process
    Hboot 1.56 - S-On - Locked

    The process
    1. unlock bootloader with unlock_code.bin from htcdev.com
    2. enable usb debugging and accept the RSA key

    3. reboot to bootloader and fastboot flash insecure boot.img (I flashed the TeamSeven kernel - http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2307371)
    4. install the TWRP recovery - openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img
    5. install SuperSu in recovery - UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.93.zip
    - enable SuperSU
    - Default access - Grant
    - select Enable su during boot
    - select Trust system user
    6. Disable firewall and anti-virus on PC
    7. Run Firewater S-Off process
    note : I use the Firewater file for method 2 but follow the method 1 for S-Off process (meaning - download the Firewater file from the link for method 2, not method 1)

    My device is on 1.56 and software version no. 4.20.707.6 rooted and TeamSeven Kernel.
    I managed to S-Off with Firewater S-Off

    But there is story behind it.

    I was S-Off before also with Firewater S-Off but I can't remember which one the firewater file was either from method 1 or method 2.

    Today I restored to stock, make it S-On and Locked again for some reason.

    Then I remember something that I missed in the ROM then I needed to S-Off again.

    I tried method 1 and also Rumrunner S-Off... many times and many hours but failed. Rumrunner ran until pouring 8 which means a definite failure. Tried both on Windows and Linux.

    When I ran Firewater method 1, after I run command /data/local/tmp/firewater, nothing happens. I notice the file get deleted from device, so it won't run.

    Then I tried method 2 eventhough my ROM is already rooted with SuperSu. It was a successful attempt, now my device is S-Off again

    So I suggest you try Firewater S-Off method 1 but use the firewater file from method 2. Firewater file from method 1 failed to S-Off for me too.

    Guys really sorry you are struggling. I am sure and positive you can s-off on hboot 1.56 so therefore I will write a full post with step by step instructions with detailed steps for all htc one m7 with 1.56 hboot covering all brands. Stay tuned towards the end of the week. In the meantime please feel free to pm me if you need help before I get chance to write the post.

    you're just making things hard on yourself!!

    if you really want to test everything, then you have to:
    1- go to bootloader, verify "fastboot devices"
    2- boot up custom recovery, verify "adb devices", if OK, then check "adb shell" gives a # prompt
    3- boot up ROM, verify "adb devices", if OK, then "adb shell" gives a # or $ prompt, issue "su" and check for any su access on your phone, and after su make sure the shell gives a # prompt
    4- to check unsecured kernel, edit something in /system/build.prop, reboot, if your edit sticks = unsecured kernel
    5- remember you need "Settings -> Dev options -> USB debugging enabled", and "Settings -> Power -> Fast boot disabled"
