Wow it looks great! Now that I'm ICS OTA I decided to give it a shot. I'll probably be installing CM10 into one of the slots tonight.

Is there a way to run ROM slots from the ext sdcard yet? Or a app to do so?
I use to be all bootstrap but this recovery blows it away. Great work hash.

You can't do that. The locked bootloader forces you to stay on a particular kernel. If you're running Gingerbread Eclipse successfully, it's because of the Gingerbread kernel. An ICS ROM would look at the GB kernel, freak out, and not boot. Icarus is dependent on you having updated to some form of ICS.

If you're desperate enough to cling to keeping Gingerbread around as a possibility, you can FXZ back to 5.9.905 and find the leaked OTA to 6.7.232 which is the newest leak that'll support FXZ flashing back to Gingerbread.

That's not actually technically true anymore, although there isn't an available kexec-compatible gingerbread kernel, yet (and there probably won't be.) The ground-breaking feature the newer version of SafeStrap provided is the ability to kexec custom kernels, even with the locked bootloader. It essentially hijacks the kernel-loading process very early on, tricking the phone into booting a different kernel. Anyway, you're right it can't be done at the moment, but not for the reasons you think.

OP updated for Safestrap v3.11:

Download the APK Installer Here for "BIONIC, RAZR/MAXX and DROID 4"
md5sum: 546060f221487ed35cc2f023c7e5d0f1
FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS: How to Safestrap
[ DOUBLE-CHECK you have the BIONIC/RAZR/DROID4 VERSION ]

CHANGES:
  • [12/29] (3.11) Allow use of custom updater-binary in .zip files for flashing on stock ROM (virtual slots still use prebuilt updater-binary in recovery).
  • [12/29] (3.11) BUGFIX: Fixed fake flash error at the end of a .zip install. (No real error, .zip installs fine)
  • [12/29] (3.10) Early support for booting custom ROMs on stock partitions.
  • [12/29] (3.10) Enable flashing to stock ROM *BE CAREFUL -- NEW FEATURE -- STILL TESTING*
    • After .zip installations, nandroid restore or system wipe on the stock ROM: the current Safestrap files are restored to the system partition (Doesn't include the APK in /data -- so if you're restoring an old backup, be sure to update the Safestrap APK)
    • During the Safestrap files restore a check is done to be sure there are minimal files on /system to re-enter Safestrap
  • [12/29] (3.10) New virtual system partitions will be 640mb (closer match to stock RAZR/D4)
  • [12/27] (3.07) Bugfix: missed some changes in Safestrap 3.06
  • [12/26] (3.06) Bugfix/Update for JB4.1 OTA for DroidRAZR (Non-JB devices can also use)

hello guys,

i have a bionic, and before its already have safetrap v3.11 with rom-slot1 active. and then i want to flash it back to stock rom.
i forget to uninstall safestrap, and i flash it to stock VRZ_XT875_6.7.246.XT875.Verizon.en.US_CFC_01.xml.

the problem is now, flash system.img take forever. already wait 2 hour, and still hasnt done.

and now i cant enter system, recovery etc. i just can enter fastboot.

can i uninstall safetrap and activated stock-rom slot ? but i cant enter the stock partition.
cant i delete or uninstall safetrap from fastboot?
is it brick now ?

or may be someone has a thought?

Fast boot yourself back to stock. There's guides on how. You shouldn't mess with something that sounds foolproof without first learning how to fix it if it goes wrong.

If I am on Safestrap 3.05 (TWRP v2.2.2.1) do I need to deinstall before installing 3.11? Or, can I install over it? Should I just run the APK?

New version of Safestrap in the OP.

VERY NEW VERSION OF SAFESTRAP WITH A LOT OF NEW CODE -- IT COULD CONTAIN BUGS WHICH WOULD NEED A FASTBOOT PROCESS TO RECOVER FROM. BE WARNED.

BUG WARNING: Screen will blank out while building a new ROM-slot. Device won't respond to power button till the slot is done building. So be patient.
