I got my from amazon yesterday. I'm loving it so far. I've gone through a few other slim case/battery door replacements, and this one is by far the best. The fit is perfect, I don't feel that it adds any thickness to the phone like some other battery doors do. It's sort of a soft touch feel. Not very grippy, but an improvement over the OEM battery door. My favorite part is that now there's no more hand oil that gunk up the back of the phone. Very pleased with this item.
Agreed - not very grippy at all. As a matter of fact, I'd argue that it's just as slippery smooth as the stock battery door. It does look better though. I wish it was truly a rubber back with some gripability. As often as I drop this phone while trying to one-hand-manipulate it - I may need to go for an actual case - which I really don't want to have to do. Maybe I'll just get used to using 2 hands. There's just a few spots where, when I move my thumb to tap the screen - I lose it! And my hands aren't really small...oh well.
Oh - word of caution if ordering from Amazon - be sure you order the S4 case if ordering for S4, or an S3 case if ordering for an S3. I didn't realize there was a choice and order the wrong one the first time.
You say it's just as slippery as the OEM back... how does it compare in terms of fingerprints? That's my biggest complaint, more so that the actual grip-ability.
It's a skin oil trap. Once your skin oil gets on it, it's difficult to buff because of the suede-like, matte surface. The oil layer creates visible glossy spots, on the black cover anyway. For comparison, the stock cover is an FP magnet, but easy to buff.
I ordered this one (link above) the other day. It has shipped but it will likely be a few days before I can post a review... looks like it's coming from Hong Kong.
I really wanted the one linked below but couldn't justify spending that much on a back cover. Love the way the brown leather looks though.
