You have to run the script when the modded kernel is already installed. Stock kernels have "secure" boot images that wont let you mount the \system partition as writable. In other words "adb remount" will result in an error as seen above. So you might have to run that script twice. First, it will obviously error out when it's copying the .ko modules (wifi.. bt.. etc) but it WILL flash the kernel. Then, after you reboot with the new kernel, you run the script again, to flash those modules in order to get wifi/bt working :)

whats funny is that last time i had this installed, i only flashed the kernel once (got the errors) and bt and wifi worked fine for me. my phone must be a dirty little whore that takes whatever i give her! :D

Or the modules you already had on your phone were compatible with this ROM's kernel :p

:p i still say shes a dirty whore! LOL on a side note, i noticed after flashing this new kernel, the shutdown animation does this thing where right before it turns off, a white box goes across the screen and stays there until its completely powered off. not the normal animation that looks like a tv...this comes after that. i dont remember seeing that the last time. is that normal?

forgot one more thing my man...do i need to rewipe AFTER i get the kernel installed? i remember flashing radios on my mytouch and if i didnt wipe the cache, it would make this weird vibrating thing during boot. just curious if i should do the same here to be on the safe side

Hey NRG how come the 3.5 layout is much different than the one shown on youtube running on the HTC bliss?

I use it when I install a new ROM...I think (and I could be wrong) but NRG included it in his ROM for the HD2 once and it did not have good results as far as including it in the ROM. It was better to install and run as an extra "app".

huh interesting so did you run it with this ROM? if so what where the results

---------- Post added at 07:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:34 PM ----------

Of course.... and I recommend against using it. No need for it...

ok thx for the help

---------- Post added at 07:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:38 PM ----------

ok im back on energy now. noticed this the first time i ran energy, but this time i got a copy of it. what does this mean? do i need to reflash the kernel again?

Put your files you will flash on root of Harddrive

There are two versions of sense 3.5, normal and bliss, which was made for the HTC rhyme if I'm not mistaken which is also called the bliss, some people consider it a more girly version of sense but I think its pretty good

Hello, I am looking to flash this rom for the first time and am still on stock rom although have unlocked bootloader and rooted phone.
Just to be clear I understand I should do these steps in this order:
-First flash kernel via flash image gui (but which kernal, the stock or the faux?)
-then do wipe and factory reset
-then flash rom
-then do wipe and factory reset again
-then reboot?

thanks for clarification

here's the order I did it in and did not have any problems since this ROM version 02/03 was released:

1. Ran Superwipe to completely wipe the phone
2. Installed NRG ROM
3. Booted phone up for first time.
4. Ran Stock Kernel Flash.bat from inside windows with the phone connected via USB cable.
5. Phone automatically reboots.

Enjoy.

thank you

so I just flash the rom and I will get everything I need in that one step?
Sorry but I have only ever flashed roms on a different phone and have never flashed on this phone yet.

I have also never flashed a kernel.

Thanks for the help on the noob proof steps to getting and using this ROM.
I am looking forward to getting off the stock one.

thanks for the help however, I am not familiar with superwipe, the nrg rom, or flashing a kernel.
I will continue to read what I can but hoping to be able to go straight to energy rom from my current one and if need to flash kernel I believe using the flash gui app would be the simplest way for me.
appreciate the help though

You can I edited your steps. Do it that way and you are good to go. It easiest and makes no bugs like not charging regularly. Also after you do all that you should flash CWM 5.5.0.4 You can use flash gui app to do that too then just restart and you are good

Thanks very much, if you could do this, this would be greatly appreciated.
Steps laid out clearly makes me feel more safe I won't end up stuck part way through and without a phone for a few hours or a day until I can figure out what I did wrong :(

Also, I see a lot of talk on CWM 5.5....

I have "ROM Manager" installed on my phone from the market and it is currently v5.0.0.6 and is up to date via market. Is this not a perfectly fine option for flashing this ROM.

Your clarification is greatly appreciated.

So you already have superuser installed on your phone correct? Do you also have clockworkMod installed?

superuser installed just means I have root right?
I have the app and icon in my apps drawer as well so I must.

I also believe I have clockworkMod installed, however, that app name is "ROM Manager" right?

appreciate your patience and help to all responding

ROM manager is the Android app, cwm is the actual recovery version. Open ROM manage, the first line will tell you the recovery version and offer to flashthe latest if it's not up to date.

This ROM is a two step flash. Assuming you're already rooted and custom recovery installed
Download the ROM and the kernel file. The room goes on the amaze sd card, the kernel goes on your computer.
On the phone use room manager to reboot into recovery
First run a backup
Then wipe data factory reset, wipe cache and dalvic cache
Then install zip from sd card, choosing nrg
Let it do its thing and reboot, then let the phone sit for a few minutes
Plug it into USB connected to computer
Find the kernel file you downloaded and unzip the file into a new folder
Double click the kernel.bat and watch it work
You're done

Rom Manager can flash CWM mod for you. Just open RM up and there will be an option (top option) to flash CWM on your phone.

Go ahead and flash CWM, and then give me a few minutes. I'm going to write some instructions for you.

Edit: Bobby beat me to them.

Ok here it is from the point that you said you have unlocked bootloader and rooted.

1.Go into Recovery by restarting into it. Do a backup.
2.Restart phone and dl Flash GUI App 99cents on market
3. Put Rom on root of sdcard
4.open Rom zip and copy the Boot.IMG and place it on root of your sdcard too.
5.Go to Flash GUI app and choose kernel then browse to ex_sd card and choose the Boot.IMG
6.Click flash img. Accept the warning.
7. it will give you option for standard reboot after it flash choose no. Restart phone into recovery
8. In recovery wipe/data factory reset
9. choose install from sd card, choose zip from sd card and choose the rom
10. reboot system
11. Boom you are running sweet Energy.
12.GO to http://androtransfer.com/xboarder56/HTC Amaze 4g/Recoverys/5.5.0.4/recovery-cwm-ruby-5.5.0.4.img it will automatically dl the updated recovery.
13. go into sd card and and place dled file on root of the card
14. go back into Flash GUI app and choose recovery
15. browse into ex-sdcard like before and choose the recovery cwm 5.5.0.4 boot img
16. choose flas then choose standard reboot.
17. almost done everything should work. now restart one more time into recovery and do a back up and you're golden
18. Hit Thanks:D

Note mine I think is easiest and guaranteed to not mess up. does extra steps like clearing cache etc so you dont have to worry about it.

Welcome to the "Energy" ROM collection thread !

This development thread is for my "Energy" custom firmware series for the HTC Amaze !

I build my ROMs with four main goals.

    • Eye candy ( I want my ROM to look great and for it to all flow together nicely)
    • Speed !!!
    • Smoothness, consistency and good aesthetics
    • Stability through private beta testing before public release
I preconfigure a lot of things in my ROM, because when I flash it on my phone, I want it ready to go. So, the ringtone, sms/email and other notifications to already be set. Doing it this way, makes for a nice ROM that's ready out of the box.

This is for the GB ROM:

    • Stock or themed ROMs available
    • Rosie 5x5 Layout (tweakable)
    • CRT Animation + overscroll (tweakable)
    • Enabled GPU UI rendering
    • Blue highlights instead of green
    • Deodexed, zipaligned, tweaked
    • Extra Quick Settings
    • Improved SD card read ahead
    • Busybox + runparts, TitaniumBackup
    • Zipaligned
    • A few HTC Apps removed, like HTC Navigation and some widgets
    • A lot of junk removed
    • Stock HTC Kernel
    • Screenshot by pressing Power and Home
    • Advanced Power Menu
    • Updated hosts file for ad removal
    • A lot more stuff... check the changelog below
    • Fast... Stable.. and GREAT battery life with the stock HTC kernel

You can stay up to date on the status of my ROM development by "following" me on Twitter.

    How to Flash this ROM:

    - Root your device
    - Install a custom recovery
    - Install the downloaded ROM .zip found in post #3
    - Make sure to do a Factory Reset / Wipe before installing ROM
