I need to sort out my old phone.
Any suggestions as to which is

I had tried the NAND and Froyo ROMs from Post #1. The install instructions were simple and straightforward for me. The others were a bit complicated to install, so I avoided them.
I find that each of the ROM has some inherent shortcomings - read the posts in the relevant ROM thread.
One common peeve is the relatively short battery life (at most 24 hrs with light usage - phone calls and sms, without using wifi or agps).
Another is the microsd cannot be seen by the PC when connected by USB, so file transfer has to be done using a separate adapter.
After a couple of months of experimenting with Android and doing battery-life tests and "techniques" to extend battery-life, I decided to revert back to WinMo. Mainly because of the much longer (5-6 days of similar light usage) battery-life.
[Off-topic] I find that WM gives me what you asked for: ease of use, stable, good radio/phone (I upgraded my radio ROM to 1.17), and decent media player (TCPMP). I am presently using the 0.71 (Clean) version of this ROM. I had tried the Cookie 2.0 as well as the CHT-Android themes, but I prefer the Clean with Androkkid (freeware) to conserve memory space and have similar usability. My Home screen is attached.
The fact that the developer (HTC0017) is still updating this ROM speaks a lot for the potential longevity of this ROM. Here is the thread.
Hope this helps.
