I am on rc1 and pretty much satisfied with almost everything.
Any compelling reason I should shift to one of the nightlies?

Rc1.5 give me no WiFi issues, but I don't use OpenWRT. Those who have problems should try to delete /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf and reboot. If that doesn't help, you may need to change your WiFi module.

And please don't PM me how to do that, a search in this thread will give you the answer.

Heheheheh :), soz about that :p
Epsylon - do tell on the thread when you upload a build with that fix ;)

one of my reason to shift over nightlies over and over again was nothing but, my Defy are itchy if not getting something new ^^

I installed RC1.5 following the guide and using the files from here:

http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1065798

now the market doesnt work for me - it doesnt download any apps. for a second the icon for downloading appears but then goes away and no download.

tried some solutions (logging on to google talk, reboot, wipe market app data... etc.)

any ideas?

Sounds like some issue with the cache partition. Try to go in the custom recovery (the stable one) and select "Wipe Cache".

Some apps include android market cannot show its icon in RC1.5. I have to manual install it or change its name in system/app and then reboot.
I have done a lot of tests and found this only happen in RC1.5.

i post in zip files libaudio.so i sign files but i think don't work with recovery .

I just compile new one with otriginal files and just libaudio.so change, so just replace libaudio.so in system/lib for enable call recorder on CM7 :D

Could not install it from the recovery.... Is there another way? Manual copying?

What app do you guys use to record? That advanced call recorder?

For those who couldn't disable the led while charging:
BTW, to disable the led while charging you must go to root/system and edit the only file there, with mounted R/W from Root Explorer or some other app. Then look for the led string, it's in there, set it to false. Default is true.

Epsylon is it possible to include a menu option for this led and also the multitouch on the CM7 menus? And to put the mute camera option inside the camera app?

Thanks a lot, :p:D
Cheers

Singing my old song.
In CM7 RC 1.5 there is no silent mode - the only mode is vibrate mode.

I set silent mode in sound setiings. Than I call on the mobile is should be absolutly quiet - no it is vibrating.

As writen above - in 07-29 silent mode and nothing vibrates - in 08-22 and 09-01 and RC1.5 in silent mode there is vibration.

Anyone - again?
Pls help.

Question to devs, please :

I'm searching an issue to my battery drain. I'm not an android expert  so I tested to replace some CM7 files by Froyo ones.

My last test is to replace tun.ko by the one found in french deodexed froyo (3.4.2_164) + 22 removed apks from CM7 + "ro.product.name=MB525_RTFR" & "ro.setupwizard.mode=DISABLED" in build.prop. For the moment, I have good battery consumption (88% remainders after 21 hours) but not with hard Defy use (2G calls, SMS).

My question is : why the CM7 tun.ko takes only 16Ko whereas Froyo tun.ko takes 198Ko  ? It's a big difference, isn't it ?

I specify : I'm on RC1.5 with 3.4.2_164 kernel and 3.4.2_164-005 baseband.

I thank you in advance !:)

modules are "stripped" by the packaging procedure... debug purpose informations are removed... to use that, we need a debug kernel...

Will there be a fix for the rc15 wifi problem or do we have to make a clean new installation with an earlyer version?

It vibrates in any mode - even in just sound no vibration. I would not make a fuzz of it, but it was good and now it is not.
And I tried to clear cache/dalvik. Probably also clear the data. Ok. I will do so - will se if it helps.

20:25:44 | nbd: Epsylon3: the hostapd change is committed in trunk and backfire now

wow... we rewrite the world :p (Fixed in future openwrt versions until today)

I'd really like to have this fixed on my router - what do I need to do? I tried opkg upgrade wpad-mini

Don't think that did it.

Can I modify something directly to fix it?

Thanks for figuring this out.

Disclaimer: The next lines are by no means meant offensive or as a personal attack. It's just my personal opinion that I feel needs to be expressed.

Yea, indeed. There are so many extra function in CM7 that I don't use it. I hope that the experimental phase will be transferred to ICS project. XDA's CM7 need to be finished by removing as many bugs as it's possible.
I think you should get your expectations correct (refering to 'need to be finished'). Unlike e.g. Motorola, we don't need to deliver a completely finished, totally bug-free 'product'. Unlike e.g. Motorola people, we aren't paid to work on this stuff, we are volunteers working on this stuff for fun in our free times. That includes the fact that we are free to choose what we want to work on, including working on e.g. ICS (if we, or in this particular case, Epsylon3) are interested in that or not working on anything at all for some time and devoting time to the new-born son instead (in this particular case, me at the moment).

You also need to understand that some things are incredibly hard to fix (due to the complexity of the code) or near to impossible to fix (because we're dealing with binary blobs).

Edit: I guess it boils down to one thing: Writing bug reports is nice and welcomed, but they shouldn't be understood as tasks, but as information to us (the developers).

    Talking about your particular examples:

Is this happening with headset only? The report is lacking details.

This is the 'dealing with binaries' case. If you feel like spending countless hours hacking smali disassembly code, go for it. If you feel like spending weeks writing a replacement: Even better.

This is fixed in our nightlies since some time. I invested a number of hours debugging this in the complex video recording code, BTW, without even having personal interest in the video recording feature.

Never encountered that issue so far, how am I supposed to debug this now?

    6. Screen locks after hang up the conversation if the talk was longer than time for screen off.
It should go back to call log according to:
Settings > Call settings > Always back to call log - checked.
I think that's behaving as desired from the code. When you unlock the screen, you should see the call log.

    7. Battery lifetime
    8. Battery lifetime
    9. Battery lifetime
Sorry, but without giving any particular battery drain scenario, ruling out e.g. apps or 3G usage etc., it's a waste of time to even talk about this. I personally got 2.5 to 3 days of battery lifetime from the stock ROM, and I get the same from CM7.
This 'CM7 drains my battery' story really is getting old, especially without any data backing it.

Maybe the devs should start a vote for the most annoying bugs the users want to have fixed? I'd rather like to see a very stable CM7 than another 5 months with a pre-beta CM9. Just my 2 cents.
We don't need a vote, we need people helping with the code, devoting time and fixing bugs. See first paragraph ;)
