When your DX falls directly on the screen, it breaks (or it leaves some scratches). However, it can protect your screen a little bit when it falls on the corner or side. I bought flip cover from UK E-bay for like 5€ (postage to Slovakia included) and I'm very very satisfied. It protects whole phone so it's way to go (my opinion).
(I bought this flip cover right after my DX fell and screen got broken :/ )
