If you're flashing recovery through fastboot it shouldn't matter if sdcard is working or not for the .img is being flashed from pc
But, did the SD card work on this phone before? Just curious

Yes,I also try it in the other G1 and work (the 1gb only) but in the g1 with the recovery 1.7,s pl and radio hack, it doesnt mount.

The problem is that the recovery isnt mounting the SD card. And I cant reflash recovery because I have the SPL of this thread

Also I bought 2 4GB microsd and isnt working in any G1 (in the pc its works) 4GB is not compatible?

Hmm, if it worked prior to this then my guess is there is something wrong with the recovery, maybe check to see if the md5sum matches
You may need to flash the orange.nbh (located in op of this thread) then flash recovery again
At this point I would test recovery to see if SD is working then if it is flash new radio and SPL through fastboot, then boot to recovery and flash rom

But, that will not brick the phone? because I have the SPL from this thread, and orange.nbh downgrade the radio. I read somewhere that flashing a nbh with that, will dongrade the radio and do a brick

If I rename the file, that is not a problem right? Because Always i rename the files.

The orange.nbh is safe to flash (do not rename the file - and md5sums won't match if you rename a file so check before you do)
I have had to use the orange.nbh a few times when screwing with my phone, its a life saver not a phone bricker. Just download, put on root of SD and boot to bootloader (also if this works than SD is for sure good and you know the issue lies with recovery)
Best of luck!

Ok, will download, My internet is very slow so, maybe I will try when I woke up.

Another question. The 4gb sd card works? The other phone (still with cm6) can read the 1gb sd card, but not the 4gb sd card. Is something else need to do?

Ok, its work, I formatted with my S3. And now its work, But, for partition, The first partition is fat32, then 3xt4 and finally swap right? all primary? I want to prepare the sd.

And if the problem is the recovery 1.7, can i use an older? i was with 1.5.4

Yes that's correct, for the SD
Use whatever recovery works for you, 1.7 had never let me down but if md5sums match and it still fails you use another

You was right, cant read any sd card, thats strange because i flashed CM6 :/ i will take it to a friend to repair it. Thanks :D

When I come back from the work, i will try this with the other one, if I have any problem I'll tell you

Thank you very much :D

A quick question. I am reading and I Dont know the difference between the 2 radios. Wich one is recommended?

Ok i did all in the other G1. I install rom froyo http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=929678

Use about 700 mb for ext4 and 64 mb for Swap. is that ok?

Thanks :D

Ok, I use a guide that flash via recovery the SPL to enable fastboot, but, they say that is not safe. If someone can tell you a way to flash a fastboot enable SPL, i can help you with the rest of the process

Where did I go wrong?

I was trying to use this guide to get the new radio & hboot on a inactive phone when something went wrong and now I have a real brick ie. phone won't boot in any mode and there is no charge led when connected to charger.
Beginning Info:
Phone "T-Mobile myTouch 3G 32B"
SAPPHIRE RE PVT 32B SHIPP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0013 (SAPP30000)
CPLD-10
RADIO-2.22.28.25
Oct 21 2009,22:33:27
I finally got root and a recovery then installed an engineering hboot (1.33.2010) to get fastboot commands thinking that would make life easier.
Big mistake. Now phone won't boot and I did not know how get hboot 1.33.0013 back.
So I down graded to an earlier (SAPPIMG.nbh) because there were no links to the latest and I had not found this thread yet.
SAPPHIRE PVT 32B SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT- 1.33.0006 (SAPP30000)
CPLD-10
RADIO-2.22.19.261
May 27 2009.19:06:41
Now I'm stuck at the sign in screen with out an active sim card
So I followed this guide (http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=547133) and ended up with a
VodaPhone rom and hboot that would boot but wasn't T-Mobile.
SAPPHIRE PVT 32B SHIP S-ON H
HBOOT-1.33.0009 (SAPP30000)
CPLD-10
RADIO-3.22.20.17
May 8 2009,21:02:32
So in a effort to get back the latest radio and hboot so I could install a custom rom I loaded engineering hboot (1.33.2010)
and proceeded to follow instructions in the OP.
While fastbooting the radio (radio-2.22.27.08) I got this in cmd window.

C:\Android\ADB>fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0G-cyan.img
sending 'recovery' (4528 KB)... OKAY [ 1.773s]
writing 'recovery'... OKAY [ 2.574s]
finished. total time: 4.346s

C:\Android\ADB>fastboot flash radio radio-2.22.27.08.img
sending 'radio' (21120 KB)... OKAY [ 5.989s]
writing 'radio'... FAILED (status read failed (Too many links))
finished. total time: 20.610s

As soon as I got the last line in the cmd window the phone shut down never to restart.
Any input as to why this happened is welcome. Fastboot flashing the radio was supposed to be the safest method but it did not work for me.:(
The phone is dead and likely only jtag will revive it and it's not worth that.
I know that I made mistakes early when it would have been easier to recover. However, I would like to know if I made some critical error to cause this or was I just unlucky?

You are correct, fastboot is the safest way and it is rare to get a brick when following this method.
The phone should not have shut off when you got the error, normally it wouldn't so my best guess is you ran out of power in your battery or something to this extent. You probably were just real unlucky

Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-dream-v1.7.0-cyan.img
fastboot flash radio radio-2.22.27.08.img
fastboot flash hboot hboot-1.33.0013d.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader

I followed this guide.
I didn't flash the recovery because I was already on RA 1.7.0
I did the other three commands though...
Here is my terminal output:

Code:
# fastboot flash radio RADIO-2.22.28.25.img
sending 'radio' (21120 KB)...
OKAY [ 6.026s]
writing 'radio'...
OKAY [ 37.364s]
finished. total time: 43.390s
# fastboot flash hboot hboot-1.33.0013d.img
sending 'hboot' (512 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.495s]
writing 'hboot'...
OKAY [ 0.557s]
finished. total time: 1.051s
# fastboot reboot-bootloader
rebooting into bootloader...
OKAY [ 0.007s]
finished. total time: 0.007s

My phone never rebooted.
When I try turning it on while a red light blinks very shortly on the top near the speaker.
This also happens when I try turning it on while holding back or home or vol down.

Am I bricked?

Possibly, but after flashing the radio and hboot you would have wiped all partitions including your recovery, so try to get back into bootloader mode (power on holding camera) if that works you are fine, just use fastboot to flash new recovery and then boot to recovery and flash compatible ROM
Best of luck

    2708+ enabled kernel [14MB ram with radio 2.22.27.08/2.22.28.25 & hboot 1.33.0013d]

[SIZE=+1]Attention: The following will only work on phones that 32B devices; This includes ALL HTC Dreams (regardless of EBI1/EBI0; but only includes the original MT3G phones. Not the Magic 32A (sometimes called magic plus) without the audio jack or the Fender/MT3G 1.2 device with the audio jack.[/SIZE]
Fender/MT1.2 users see this thread for additional information.

A little while back the MT3G-ota release hit the streets; With it on the MT3G was a new radio 2.22.27.08, and H-Boot 1.33.0013 allowing the new firmware to have access to 15MB additional ram. Since I've had some patches on our old radio/SPLs to bring that down to 14; however that still leaves us a long way to go.

Now I'm happy to announce the new radio can be used with the latest build of my latest kernel :)

This is at this point in time an advance process so please proceed with caution and read carefully, so you do not end up bricking your device.

    !!!! IMPORTANT !!!!
The following SPL 1.33.0013d, was modified with HTC Dreams in mind.

However after some trial it appears to also be safe on the 32b Sapphire phones [aka MT3G]; And will provide benefits as bypassing any version/region checks on the NBH flashes and allowing 'fastboot erase system -w' to ensure cleaner wipes between installs.

Sapphire users may however also use the unmodified 1.33.0013 (this is not recommended for dream users due to the partition sizes, and lack of 'fastboot erase image' to simplify wipes between roms; or CustomMTD resizes.)

To Start you will need a fastboot enabled SPL such as 1.33.2003 or 1.33.2005 or 1.33.2010 or 1.42.2000 as I'm not distributing the new radio/SPL in a update.zip ..

(for source code see this tag .. specifically the 2708+ patch is this: patch, additional details on this set of kernels is here).

ez-nightly236-cm-2708port_S.zip and other CM6.1nightly kernels. (source code and additional information on the CM Forum post)
CM-6.1-final uses the same code as the 271 nightly so install it after installing the rom and before rebooting. Note: if you find more than this line green with that kernel try 251, my 20101106 or pershoots kernels.

The most recent pershoot kernels also support the additional ram.

    The ezgb2636 kernel series http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=14768272&postcount=2427

(Note: Any other 2708 ported kernels, or roms with such a kernel can be used without the above port files)

    > A Rom (note: many cm6 based roms block install because of the '1.33.0013d' bootloader Please use firerat's SpoofSPL)

    Known to work:

    - MT3G-Test3 from http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=811620
    - Nandroid backups/SpoofSPL installs of CM6/CM6RC1/BiffMod/SparksMod/other derivatives will probably also work
    - Biffmod2.1 2708+ port
    - CM6-RC1 2708+ port
    - CM6 final 2708+ port (unofficial)
    - CM5.0.8 2708+ port

If you have an older rom you wish to port this post may be able to help you do it.

    [SIZE=+2]== Installing ==[/SIZE]

(Note: Please Do read the information on the SPL below before actually installing)

    1) Take a nandroid backup of your current rom (mandatory if you are trying to move the current rom to the new radio/SPL) to simplify things put any update.zips you expect to need on the SD card now
    2) enter fastboot mode
    3) flash the files and other operations via fastboot
    Code:
    fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-dream-v1.7.0-cyan.img
    fastboot flash radio radio-2.22.27.08.img
    fastboot flash hboot hboot-1.33.0013d.img
    fastboot reboot-bootloader
now you will see you have an s-on boot loader with 1.33.0013d as its version
    Code:
    fastboot erase system -w
    fastboot erase boot
please remember while fastboot erase works; fastboot flash does not so be careful *not* to remove the recovery
    4) Boot into recovery
    5) install a system from backup or as a fresh rom some options are:

    a. If you want your previous rom restore the nandroid backup
    b. If you are installing the MT3G-Test3 flash 'MT3G-test3_S.zip' (no need to continue with these instructions as this is a 2708 port)
    c. If you are installing BiffModV2.1-2708port_S.zip flash it as per These instructions using the 2708+ port instead of the BiffModV2.1.zip (you will not need to continue with the steps on this page)
    d. Install your new rom as-per the roms instructions (if it is a 2708+ port do not proceed to step 6 unless you want my kernel instead of the rom creators)
    6) If your rom doesn't come with a 2780+ port: Flash the anykernel for the new radio ezBiffTestKernel20110222-2708_S.zip
    7) reboot and use as normal

    [SIZE=+2]== Flashing From a Stock SPL ==[/SIZE]

    * Magic 32b Users: if you have a 2.x radio with a 1.33.00xx SPL other than 1.33.0013/1.33.0013d please see This Post
    * Dream Users: if you have 0.95.0000/0.95.3000/10.95.3000 see this post
    * Dream Users: if you have a 3.x please re-read your rooting instructions, it will install 1.33.2005 for you and allow you to continue with these instructions.

    [SIZE=+2]== Switching from 1.33.0013 to 1.33.0013d ==[/SIZE]

Any user that install 1.33.0013 or has rooted a stock 32b sapphire phone with 1.33.0013 pre-installed and wishes to switch to 1.33.0013d you may use the following update.zip:

    update-1_33_0013-to-1_33_0013d_S.zip
    MD5: a68743f0b0e40aec9e18cbd02e6128fa
(Note this will only work if you are migrating 1.33.0013->1.33.0013d otherwise it will prevent you from installing the update)

    [SIZE=+2]== Important Information about 1.33.0013d ==[/SIZE]
A not quite so perfected SPL

1.33.0013d is based on the new 1.33.0013 released in the MT3G ota and allows access to the additional memory provided by the new radio. The original SPL however was very unfriendly to the Dream; and being a perfected SPL left quite a bit to be desired.

Please note 1.33.0013d is modified for use only on the dream and has a few of the problems fixed (but some cannot be changed due to the Perfected base SPL)

*) Fastboot mode is enabled (however very few commands are available)
*) fastboot erase works (allowing us the most important function of wiping the current system)
*) 'fastboot flash nbh' works and will skip most checks
    *) SPL's partition layout (dream only): 91MB system 27MB cache 91.8MB data
(magic users will see a normal partition layout)

If you find yourself stuck without recovery!!

    Dream
    1) Download: orange-1.58.73.2.nbh (MD5: aca4dee0c1ece7e9773f2ecbdfbba7c0) (mirror)
    2) enter fastboot and run 'fastboot flash nbh orange-1.58.73.2.nbh'
    3) wait for the entire nbh to flash
    4) boot into the bootloader again (it will be an engineering SPL 1.42.2000)
    5) You can now re-flash the radio/hboot/recovery via fastboot that you wish to have installed.

    Sapphire (MT3G)
    1) Download SAPPIMG.nbh
    2) enter fastboot and run 'fastboot flash nbh SAPPIMG.nbh'
    3) Continue as per one click (flashreq) root instructions: http://www.getyourdroidon.com/wiki/index.php5?title=MyTouch_3G_One_Click_Root

If you just temporarily need an engineering SPL (and recovery is working):
    (and have SPL 1.33.0013 + radio 2.22.27.08):
    1) Nanroid backup
    2) Flash (via recovery) ENG SPL 1.33.2005 **
    3) do what you need to in the engineering SPL
    4) reflash 1.33.0013d as above (install, reboot bootloader, fastboot erase)
    5) restore nandroid

** Please remember if you have CustomMTD to remove it before flashing a SPL of Radio from recovery

    fastboot erase without fastboot
I highly recommend dream users run 'fastboot erase system -w' as instructed above when first installing 1.33.0013d. However for sapphire users with 1.33.0013 (missing fastboot erase support) and for all users when away from your computer see this thread for a recovery executable zip to simulate fastboot erase.

    [SIZE=+2]== Switching between Radios 2.22.27.08 and 2.22.28.25 ==[/SIZE]

To do this you can either restore the engineering SPL as above
    Or use an advanced update.zip:

    update_2.22.27.08_S.zip // [size=+1]mirror[/size]
    md5: 412959f6887f9f8764bd285ad879e1c0

    update_2.22.28.25_S.zip // [size=+1]mirror[/size]
    md5: 2e384ab42da375458fdb135063b7536b

These zips have extended safety features.

    1) Notice that you need to remove custom MTD (exists without flashing with warning)
    2) prevents you from flashing if you currently have a different series of radio (ie. 1.22 or 3.22 .. it must be 2.22)
    3) asks in a yes/no menu if you are sure that you want to install (with an extended warning for "unknown" SPLs that may cause problems. (1.33.0013/1.33.0013d/1.33.2005 are the 'known' SPLs)

It is *still* safer to use fastboot when possible however this is the method used by the OTA its self.. (just try to make sure you have a valid system first .. my checks attempt to avoid the most common potential issues.. but if you are crafty it can still cause a brick.)

    New radio for Older Roms

If you are trying to get the new radio to work with older roms and experience camera issues: I've a slightly reduced ram version of the kernel that allows camera the full 8MB.

    http://sandbox.devnull.name/android/ezOldBuildsKernel-2708_S.zip
    MD5: 84cf7c7d2a923eed962aef5e1a6a94e9

This will work on CM4/5 however the install is not as trivial as just flashing some potential problems you may need to solve:

    * Different path to the modules (move to correct place or add a symlink)
    * old version of rzscontrol giving typewriter errors (pull the binary in recent cm builds and replace)
    * modules not loaded by default that are needed (edit an init.d script)

Once these actions are made your rom will likely work as expected. I provide this file to help you port your older roms to the newer radio; not as a quick patch that will make everything work on its own. (For that I make things like the new CM5 2708 port where I manually cleanup the system in the updater.zip)

    Okay. So I think I have read enough research about the stuff I need to know before flashing such radio/SPL. But I do have a couple of questions which came unanswered on my research. I'm a noob at this, so I hope you would take consideration on answering my questions because I don't want to proceed on such procedure with knowing it all the way(that would end up having my g1 bricked). :D So again, I apologize for such noob questions. Here are some things I need some clarifications for;

    *Info*
I have a G1, with Cyanogen 6.1.0 DS, btw for info you might need. Radio 2.22.19.26I, on SPL, I have no idea because it doesn't say anything. It only says "Latest G1 SPL" which I downloaded from theunlockr. Which I was able to use adb and cyanogen 6 with.

    *Questions*

    - It says here "To Start you will need a fastboot enabled SPL such as 1.33.2003 or 1.33.2005 or 1.33.2010 or 1.42.2000 as I'm not distributing the new radio/SPL in a update.zip". That means I need an SPL that has enabled fastboot right? (noob question, but just for clarification to be safe) And if it is, is my SPL fastboot enabled? I was able to use it with adb. Haven't tried it with fastboot. I don't know if it is fastboot enabled because I have no idea what SPL version it is. So I can't do much research on it. So I refer from the fact that I was able to use it on adb on flashing my cyanogen 6.

-On ANY KERNEL INSTALLER.(Only if you are not using a rom containing a 2708+ kernel) Which means me, my cyanogen doesn't contain a 2708+ port. So there are 2. Which one is the most preferrable for me? Again, I have a Cyanogen 6.1.0-DS. BiffMod? Or Nightly236.CM_2708port?

-On step 6, Should I only proceed if I wish to use your kernel? Which is the ezBiffTestKernel20101106-2708_S.zip, RIGHT? (Not sure if thats what you meant)

-On A ROM area, it says. (note: many cm6 based roms block install because of the '1.33.0013d' bootloader Please use firerat's SpoofSPL). Which you all have read from above, I have a cyanogen 6.1. Am I RECOMMENDED to use "firerat's SpoofSPL" or the one you have provided (hboot-1.33.0013d.img) is good enough?

Thats about all my questions so far. If I will have more, I will just post or edit here again. Again, if you think these questions are so noobish, I apologize. I'm new at this and I've done a lot of research already, but some of them was left unanswered. I find it unfair for you guys doing all the work, and yet some people will shoot questions anyway they want without any research. So I did my research, but the ones I asked couldn't be answered. I hope you can help. Thanks a lot in advance. :D

Download the following (you might have to do a google search for each):

    1) ohsaka-super-wipe.zip
    2) hboot0013d-signed.zip
    3) update_2.22.27.08_S.zip
    4) ROM of your choice listed in the first post of this thread

    Boot into Recovery

    1) Run nandroid & backup

Reboot phone & copy all contents of SD card just to be safe. At this point, I used an SD card reader each time to load what I needed on the SD card. Then rebooted into recovery, flashed what I needed, put the SD card back into the card reader, loaded the next file, renamed to update, reboot into recovery, flash, repeat... This is probably not the preferred method... But it always works for me.

    Flash in this order

    1) ohsaka-super-wipe.zip
    2) hboot0013d-signed.zip
    3) update_2.22.27.08_S.zip
    4) ROM of your choice listed in the first post of this thread

You should be golden... & for some reason... the super wipe made all the difference in the world!

Good Luck & Have fun flashing!!

We like to help people on this forum, but we don't like helping people who are too lazy to help themselves.
