I can't understand what is new, and what's not. I have the original ROM Cleaner (1.2), and I don't want to configure it all again.

Can you make a text file where the lines that are NEW are in RED or some other color so it's easy to spot them?

Mate, read... I won't do it for you ;)

Its totally rebuilt from ground and up. Changes is in romcleaner text an firstpost app list.

Found the problem... The min I switch ON Background Data my launcher crashes...
So I'm keeping Background Data OFF as of now... :)

I can reproduce the exactly same problem on my device. Even if I don't know what "FC" exatly means (I'm new to android-scene), my Launcher (HTC Sense, com.htc.launcher) keeps on crashing, on and on.

I tried everything, deleting HTC Sense data, rebooting many times, no effect. It keeps on crashing.

1. Used Super Wipe Utility
2. Flashed Android Revolution HD™ 3.0.0
3. Flashed ROM Cleaner v2.2 (without booting new ROM before)

My Device: HTC Sensation Z710e

I did a few changes to the romcleaner_user.txt, maybe that is the problem. I will try to make all steps again with a clean one now. Things I changed:

I removed # in front of those entries:
#/data/app/AdobeReader.apk
#/data/app/ESFileExplorer.apk
#/data/app/Facebook.apk
#/system/app/com.adobe.reader-1.apk
#/system/app/AdobeReader.apk
#/system/app/AppSharing.apk
#/system/app/com.facebook.katana-1.apk
#/system/app/Facebook.apk
#/system/app/htcmailwidgets.apk
#/system/app/htccalendarwidgets.apk
#/system/app/htccalendarwidgets3d.apk
#/system/app/htcmailwidgets3d.apk

I added # in front of those entries:
Removing Wallpapers... -> I did not remove any of the walpapers.

I will report if using the clean version of the tool fixes the problem.

The problem dhruv.arora25 talked about is on Virtous Unity 2.33 beta ROM

And you have it on Sensation? With ARHD ROM?

I can't reproduce that issue at all, tried 10 times turn off/on background data and no issues at all. Been running this ROM for 17 hours now.

And those changes you did wont affect this.

Me and craack did a lot of tests yesterday I will report back when we have discussed his results.

FC on Virtuous Beta

above me: FC means Force Close (=crash)

since yesterday in the evening Patric and i tried to figure out what causes the constant FC. Sadly for him, his ROM is working fine ;D he just got 1 single FC at the very beginning, thats it.

For me: same problem as you guys have

what we did:
- Superwipe
- Flash Virtuous Beta
- Flash ROMCleaner default (no user list)

everytime when i go to the homescreen (the 1st one) i got a FC; every ****ing time. it doesnt matter if i am logged into google or not. it is just after flashing the rom.

in the end it worked for me by deleting(or put # in front) this line: /system/app/FusionStockWidget.apk

Yes, in the very first beginning i got FC again, but after , lets say 2-3minutes, not a single FC until now (17hours now)

so please try to flash rom cleaner with a userlist where u just delete or out-# this line written above

I'm not on this rom but it sound like the FC's are generated by creating (wrong)appdata. So in my opinion cleaning data will only cause more FC's.

Maybe you can flash the rom without cleaner and if there are no FC's compare appdata folder contents to the cleaner one. Don't forget to check permissions on the folder and the files.

And try to clean data with rom without romcleaner and check if the fc's are showing up. If not you know homesceen is crosslinked with some app.

Maybe it's a start in the right direction......

Ps got the same at another Rom, but after self-crashing my PC, I haven't had the time to check it out. I will be back on that if I'm fully operational

Also to you how get's FC please remove MySketcher.apk from your user list or redownload ROM Cleaner v2.2 or romcleaner_user.txt from v2.2 they are updated.
This app makes it possible to take screenshots... I had wrong info about it.
Also it might be a reason for FC since it is a app how is activated from build.prop so right now I have no other ideas.

Will continue the hunt later this evening :D

Because I want to re flash the ROM but without the ROM Cleaner for now but I still want to back up and restore the applications using the tool cause it is not a pain in the ass.. :p

So... I tried these things written above, FC still keeps going on. But I found out where exactly the problem occures (at least at my phone). It is the HTC Clock Widget (with weather) which is place on the homescreen by default. If I remove the widget the FCs stop! If I place the widget on another screen and slide to it: FC.

Somebody else can approve this?

I have the assumption, that the removal of some htc stuff affects the widget to work as it should. So the FC occur. Maybe that is the solution?

I tried everything no FC at all...

I think this might be down to device related ****.

I'm talking about hardware and provider related stuff.
Maybe the sound when weather animation is running?

I have no idea and I have really tried evreything now :(

It's like removing twitter or peep. I have no issues but maybe 1of100 gets sync issues

Please try and test everything and report it to us.

If you backup apps to SD they will end up in Firstboot folder.
Second boot folder is only used for manually added files.

You can always move stuff from firstboot to secondboot... Reading guides would told you this already ;)

Sorry but I didn't quite understand....
I want to back up my apps using the script provided in this thread and I want to restore them automatically without using the Rom Cleaner script...
can this be achieved..? If yes how...?
Thank you.... :)

Yeah, and I told you... :p

Flash backup apps to sd.
Manually Copy /data/app in firstboot folder to secondboot folder /data/app
Flash Apps and mod installer

(If you didn't flash folder creator, do it first)

Hey Mate :)
this is how it looks like:
Patric "stock" virtuous beta = no problem
Patric virtuous beta + rom cleaner = no problem (and we dont know why :D)

craacK "stock" virtuous beta = FC over FC
craacK virtuous beta + rom cleaner = FC over FC
craacK virtuous beta + romcleaner (not deleting FusionStockWidget.apk) = "ok"

and we really do the same ^^

So... I tried these things written above, FC still keeps going on. But I found out where exactly the problem occures (at least at my phone). OK, when i read this, i checked it and after 20hours without FC, suddenly i got FC over FC. it really was related to that widget.

now i rearranged it (doesnt mean that is the solution), was AFK for some time, and i have NO FC anymore.

i thought it could be the animation, or the sound, but i am not able to get that FC back again to test.
MAYBE it is prover / weather realted, i really dont know

The truth is that I have been spending more and more time on One X.

I guess and hope it's just the calm before the rumored ICS STORM!! :highfive:

Anyway below here you have an early release of ROM Cleaner v5.0 ;)
Once ICS is out I will adjust it if needed... OP will be updated as well but when I have more time...

    * And of course we added a "No Cleaning" option as well which will
let you restore apps and install files like normal!

    -App restore changes:
    * When you choose to restore your apps a script will check if you use one of
the supported ROMs. If you use any of the listed ROMs below all pre-installed
apps will be removed before all other apps are copied to your /data/app.
This is to prevent old/double apps from being installed.

    Supported ROMs at the moment:
    * Android Revolution HD
    * ER3BUS XL

    more to come...
