I haven't taken the leap and installed the 3.0 kernel yet, BUT...random question for those that have...
I've noticed on any of the other ICS builds, things kind of slow to a crawl for while when I'm downloading podcasts with BeyondPod. I know from reading a few reviews there was apparently some quirk with the way the Fire handles USB mass storage and/or internal storage that slows certain things down.
Anywho, the question; is my BeyondPod/downloading/system slowdown issue something with the Fire itself, or is it something that may or may not be rectified with the 3.0 kernel?
Thanks in advance y'all.
Well, the stock ROM has many issues overall, which is why Amazon has pushed like three updates since it was released in November along with features. It was built really quickly and even some have noted a lot of errors in their code. The stock audio problem was carried over to the previous ICS builds, but is now fixed in the new 3.0 kernel.
The slowdown issues are still present at this time. I just had something download for a hour that should have taken less time on it. BUT, it *COULD* be something that is fixable.
YouTube just seems to be hit and miss with the videos. After trying some more it seems to be working OK.
