Just waiting on the G2.
But, from a pure support and warranty standpoint, brand new Nexus4 vs used LGOG for the same price, I'd get the brand new for the peace of mind alone, or lowball your friend
No one should go for an Optimus G expecting a custom AOSP-based ROM (i.e. not a modded LG ROM) to be as stable as a stock Nexus 4. Plus, any Nexus is going to be supported by both Google and the dev community for way longer than the Optimus G will be (there isn't even an official 4.2 ROM yet!).
Also would add that if OP ends up with an Optimus G, the Nexus 4 conversion is not worth the risks, especially since there are quite a few well-maintained
ROMs available for the E970 (just look at the changelogs).
ATT Optimus G running Houstonn's Rootbox build
Unlocked Motorola Cliq running CM7 (backup)
Virgin Optimus V running IHO's CM7 build or TheKraven's CM9 build (inactive)
T-Mobile HTC G1 running CM4.2 or CM5 (dead battery)
