As an expansion, an alternative method to achieve a better UI response is to force Android to use the Tegra for all rendering work by disabling the in-built compatibility mode.
You need to be rooted.
Navigate to system/lib/egl and open egl.conf in a text editor. Remove the line 0 0 android, save and exit text editor. MAKE SURE THE PERMISSIONS ARE SET CORRECTLY OR IT WILL BOOTLOOP. They should be rw-r--r--.
In the same directory, rename or delete libGLES_android.so.
Now Android has no choice but to use the Tegra, and it's way of doing things. The compatibility software-only path has been completely removed as an option for rendering.
