I've seen horizontal and vertical line in all the Notes I cam across. As well as black spots and lines when you perform LCD Test. This is a AMOLED thing.

TBH, my S2 never had those. My S1 only showed it in greys and extremely faint. on the note it takes no effort to see it.

I know what you mean, I had a SGS1 earlier as well but never came across tint, smudges, black dots / lines, and horizontal lines.

In respect to the horizontal lines in grey or white background, Can it be because of the high resolution?

This is what I see on mine, bad focus but it was the best shot I had that shows the lines.

Can you post a picture of your phone showing that image at low brightness, I just wanna make sure that not all units are affected by this so I can have it replaced.

Sorry no idea how to do it
I did have people people download the image on a desire and desire HD and all agrred my note looked the same as theirs.

oops apparently it worked. Sorry about the focus I was not using a proper camera.

First of all, following my past message (having halos on 1 Note and not having it on another) thread:

Today, I've been to the shop where I bought mine. I asked sellers to give me 5 pieces and all of them were for Polish market. I took the Note of my friend that didn't have any problems with screen as a masterpiece for checking.

I've tried all 5 of those new Notes and only ONE had perfect screen that matched my masterpiece. All the rest had halos and gray instead of black on the same picture. (Despite the fact that all pieces were from the same shipment and for the same market)...

Finally, I took this perfect one :) But later, when I have done all setup, rooting, firmware upgrade (up to 2.3.6 KKA) - I have noticed another HORRIBLE sh...t with my new screen - sometimes (trying to figure it out right now) and in some circumstances (probably only at lowest brightness setting) I can see how white|gray suddenly changes a bit to green.... and back again to gray|white. It is mostly seen when you pull down notification panel and look at it for a minute. The pattern of tint change from green to gray goes like for a 5 seconds each 5-10 seconds. And it is noticeable. Especially when you read the web page that is evenly lit with the light color. It distracts a lot from reading... Like your eyes suddenly find an obstacle and jump over it and all because of slight change in gray point tint.

Does anybody see the same sh..t happenin'?

Moreover, it seems that the effect is gone while charging....

Strangely enough i turned the screen to maximum, and now most of the banding is gone. The banding on the greys in the market are completely gone.

I can tell is that it's not a hardware issue at all.

All a matter of color profile.

i found some files here - etc\

i try change conten from mdnie_tune_ui_dynamic_mode to mdnie_tune_ui_standard_mode and found - its work - its callibration presets
i can chang in setting - display - screen mode (dynamic \ standart \ movie)

Hi.

Control of the mDNIe settings are already added in my dev code for Voodoo Screen Tuning R&D on N7000, but its not ready for release yet.

However, mDNIe settings are totally unrelated to the gamma curve.
It's not the problem, not the solution either.

I delete all this files from etc and same progress in color banging - transition on overscroll is little better

i make foto later

@supercurio

What are your thoughts on the horizontal and vertical lines on the G-Notes screen?

I've never seen such issue on the SGS1/SGS2/Wave

The higher the density of pixels is on the screen matrix, the higher lines, due to inconsistency of subpixels placements and response at lowest brightness are visible.

Current tech limitation of the manufacturer process.

Basically all G-notes are expected to show visible lines?
Kinda makes the whole HD screen a bit moot..

I know exactly what you are talking about, and i have seen it in my device. Do not fear, it is not a hardware fault, and is not caused by your drop:

Go to settings / display and scroll down. You will see 'auto adjust screen power' and when this is checked it seems to cause this, although i agree it is barely noticeable.

I keep mine checked because i prefer the potential power savings

    Stop wasting your time!

Don't take this personally, but GET A REFUND, NOW!

    done:
confirm these problems: had 14 (!!!) notes so far (some 16 gb internal, some 32gb internal, all bought in austria), ALL OF THEM SUFFERED MORE OR LESS FROM THIS PROBLEMS!
as a technically very skilled person i know what i'm writing about, also on xda-developers.com in the note section are HUGE threads regarding this problems! additionally, there are also problems with unevenness with grey and brown colors, dark blotches and lines (display a black image, go into a dark room and let your eyes accommodate for at least 1 min) ON ALL SCREENS I'VE SEEN SO FAR!!!
i love my note, BUT THE SCREEN IS C R A P DUE TO MANUFACTURING PROBLEMS!!!!!!!!!
me too will exchange until my screen is worth the money i paid for it, so i'm sure samsung wont earn money on me, AND ITS NOT MY FAULT! regards from austria, markus

..anyone can answer if this abrupt transition can be fixed? ..Can it be a software issue that may be solved with a calibration tool, an updated firmware or ICS, or is a hardware constraint?

I can tell is that it's not a hardware issue at all.

All a matter of color profile.

Just recieved my Note! It's so ****ing awesome! No dead pixels, black and white is superb but there's some banding on grey color, but the Desire HD also has this so big deal! I'm not gonna ruin this device for myself by analyzing every little part of it like you guys do.

Enjoy it, or you know.. not. Your choice.
