THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS
I CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT IT WORKS 100%
AGAIN, I CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT IT WORKS 100%
THANKS AGAIN TO PHANTOMGAMERS
First off, you need the latest MODDED CM10.1 Nightly that PhantomGamers has provided us.
Get it here: https://sundergaming.com/downloads/sph-i710/ubuntu/

Next, you need the Nightly Ubuntu IMG:
cdimages.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-touch-pr...urrent/quantal-preinstalled-phablet-armhf.zip

Make SURE you have the latest CWM or TWRP recovery for your device!
I recommend TWRP because it's much easier to use.
TWRP Download: http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/107

Install:
1. Download the latest MODDED CM10.1 build listed above.
2. Download the Nightly Ubuntu Quantal from link above.
3. Put both on SDCARD.
4. Install and boot into CWM 6.0.1.9+ or into TWRP.
5. If you haven't flashed the quantal zip before, wipe data.
6. Install the CM10.1 zip and then the quantal zip.
7. Reboot and enjoy!

Credits to PhantomGamers for the modded ZIP and Thunderstruck (for instructions) over at Rootwiz.

So can you tell us what all is working or broken? Do android apps work (I'm going to put my money on no, but still)?

I just flashed it as per instructions. When it booted up it was just a gappless cm10.1 ROM. Nothing special about it. I was expecting a whole different look.

Yeah, I don't know what is happening, the modded CM10.1 rom the D2VZW guy has most likely doesn't have magical wizardry going on.

I tried it and got the same outcome. Does it have to be flashed over cm? What about trying a "almost pure aosp" ROM?

I even tried rebooting and flashing the Ubuntu file again. Still same out come.

Edit. Anon pm me your gtalk. I'd be down to help problem shoot this

A video on this that I watched said this was pretty much just a CM10 based OS with an Ubuntu UI over top

Yep. That is what it is pretty much. Ubuntu Touch is AOSP with a pretty skin on it.

This is not true

Ubuntu touch does not even include dalvik.
My understanding is that besides the kernel, it uses a minimal system of binaries and libraries that are common to cm. The rest of it is ubuntu stuff.

Join us on irc (see my sig) and talk with PhantomGamers. He can tell you what he did to get this working, worst case scenario I can ask him to roll one out for d2spr.

EDIT: quite honestly, if you were to replace the kernel in the boot.img in Phantom's zip with a d2spr zImage, and package it all back up, this would probably work just as well as it does on d2vzw (which is not good, about the only things are the screen and touch input)
