Yes. I used the adb.rar package. It's a bit confusing to some by using the word 'install' as there is really nothing to install. Just an unrar and placing files into a directory.
Oh, and I'm not sure, but I don't think it's necessary to install the Android SDK at all. Never did that for my other Nooks and ADB + rooting worked fine.
OK, I learned a little more. I registered at the B&N site and downloaded the actual B&N driver set. I have attached them to my OP. They are even different yet.
I updated the instructions in the OP to make it clear you do not have to install the SDK, just use the files in my OP.
I deleted all my HD related drivers (those with Vid_2080&Pid_0005 in the device ID), then started over. It all installed and worked, I just used the B&N drivers for all yellow exclamation point devices.
The only issue I had was the MTP device installed as "Android ADB Interface" rather than an MTP device. That did not prevent adb from working though. But when I unchecked 'enable ADB', the MTP device did not show up, only the Android ADB Interface. I uninstalled the "Android ADB Interface'. MTP installed correctly and worked. But when I went back to 'Enable ADB', the Android Composite ADB Interface did not load. I had to disable the MTP temporarily, unplug and replug the cable and the composite was recognized and adb was working. Then I could enable MTP and both worked. Then I could turn off 'enable ADB' and MTP still worked. But the next time I enabled ADB, I had to go through the same process of temporarily disabling MTP in order to get the composite to load. All this could just my my PC because I have uninstalled and installed so many times. At least I know what to do on my PC now.
EDIT: YAY! I got everything to work. I used a new procedure and I will add this to the OP.
1. If you tried doing all this before, uninstall all devices with Vid_2080&Pid_0005 in the device ID
2. Make sure 'Enable ADB' is turned off. Plug in the device. MTP should install.
3. Unplug the device, enable ADB. Plug back in.
4. Devices will show with exclamation points in device manager. Install them using the B&N driver.
5. An "Android Composite ADB Interface" will install, but will show an exclamation point. The computer says it needs to reboot to finish. Do it.
6. When it starts back up, the "Android Composite ADB Interface" device will still have the exclamation point. Update the driver again with the B&N driver. ADB now works.
7. For me everything now works, turning off ADB brings makes it so MTP works and enabling it makes ADB and MTP work.
I am going to update the OP.
