Re: [ROM] *Unofficial* AOKP 4.2.1 [Jan-27-13]

Sorry to sounds mean, but that is useless. People already have said that numerous time in my thread and i've been aware of it. We all have the same problem since we all kinda use the same base. The real problem is to know what cause that. Know how to reproduce is not useful when you don't know what cause it.

I have thick skin. Takes more then constructive criticism to erk me, lol.

But If I can consistently reproduce the issue by leaving a WiFi network when the phones asleep, I should be able to start a logcat, cause the s.o.d, boot back up and read through the log and see what's causing it. Hopefully anyway.

That's also what i tried first. However, logcat shows nothing, it seems to be more of a kernel problem. There is also kernel log. DMSG will show you that. Here again, it shows nothing, last_kmsg which appear when the phone has a problem and reboot by itself tells that the reboot was planified. This make no sense. I am swimming in a ocean of non-sense. Glad you have a tick skin :p English is not my main language and wasn't sure if this was looking worse than it is really.

Lol. Don't worry about it. Its easy to forget that there are all kinds of people all over the world on this site and things can easily get lost in translation. I'm going to try a few things on my carbon port since it suffers from the same issue. I did after all use your cm10.1 as a base, lol.

Chadouming I think your right about it being kernel related.

I flashed houstonn's kernel for his aosp rom, the one to fix cap keys and NFC, and sure enough it has fixed my WiFi s.o.d problem with my carbon port.

Going on 3 hours with no reboots, and multiple tests done to confirm. I can only assume it should work with cm10.1 and aokp. After I'm don't testing out my carbon update, I'm going to try that kernel with those ROMs and see if it fixes it for them as well.

It works with the latest AOKP 4.2.1 build from the OP. Been running it for weeks now without issues.

Sent through the telekinetic powers of an Optimus G (E971) running AOKP 4.2.1.

Ya but its only newer 4.2.2 bases cm roms that have the issue. 4.2.1 doesn't suffer from the WiFi sod/reboot issue. But houstonns kernel seems to fix it on the newer base's, for my port at least its been working flawless.

Tried this out and no more sod. Getting random reboots though when leaving WiFi. Also I don't know if it's just me but this build seems kinda laggy.

Great work though!

I didn't notice it being laggy, I was using nova launcher if that makes any difference. I ran an antutu benchmark and it scored comparable to houstonn's other roms, I know benchmarks don't mean a lot just helps quantify perception. I started a CF Bench test and partway through the random reboots started. Keep up the good work!

Well i've finally got all my issues sorted, or the major ones.. which were all just my stupidity as i was suspecting :p

Anyways, i'm going to be putting up a build in a little bit here. Cap keys working, havn't added nfc yet(is there still the battery drain issue??).
It'll just be base aokp build 5, havn't added any apps or tweaked anything. Just figured it had been long enough without a release. Try it out, let me know... I'll update OP when uploaded

just realized that the sounds up/down is switched still. fixed for next build but not really an issue since i'm already uploading.

Build and mirror are up, I've been running for the last hour and a bit and i've yet to reboot, not saying it's fixed but... ;) havn't had a chance to check the wifi range sod, but let me know what you find is up or not working(aside from nfc, i've held off till i hear news on battery drain i was hearing about)

I know they're all over xda and the web but oh well, i went ahead and put up a guide for building aokp 4.2.2 yourself. If there is anything that is missing/not working for it let me know and i'll update it. It's fairly clear(as far as i can say) so i'm not expecting alot of talk about it, which is why i didn't put a new thread for it.

was bored waiting for the uploads :p

anyone get reboots yet, i've yet to have one...just curious. Any observations?

I've replaced launcher with holo launcher and added file manager and terminal for next build so far. I'm a fan of holo launcher if you couldn't tell...
going to pretty much be as it was pre-cap keys very soon, then i'll go from there..

camera works fine on my device... that maybe an issue with only your device variant. sorry i've not been keeping up on what does/does not work between variants and such. Try to get a logcat of the camera issue you're having.

oh... and to my knowledge there is not the option to disable the lights... if i'm wrong someone let me know though..

Have only been running for an hour but the camera is working fine for me (on an e971). Also I had two reboots happen few minutes after flashing (does a rom need to "settle in" or something?) but has been solid for a while now.

I re-read thru the link I posted above the previous post. Seems that the cause of the bootloops was an old version of recovery (CWM or TWRP).
If I recall correctly, I got CWM with freegee .5
    CWM version 6.0.1.5

Which recovery are u using Haze?

Use the recovery from http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2010984(he has the latest posted which has been compiled for the att to use exFAT on the ext_sdcard,
which will show errors on our Canadian phones when loaded in recovery)

You would want to use the recovery of Sk8's CWM - no sdcard exFAT errors.

As for your above post. - you can wipe cache / wipe dalvik cache / you can even go ahead and goto mounts and storage and "format /system"

    install rom
    install gapps

after flash I always do a wipe cache partition / wipe dalvik cache (since it installs a kernel)

    then reboot system
