Np... I'm using the new modem now flashed it using safestrap on slot 1... no issues and I'm liking it better than mf3 so far :)

Sent from my SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 4

So you flashed the modem to one of the slots, and not the stock rom correct? This keeps the stock rom on mf3, thus not breaking safestrap, but also allows us to use 4.3 based roms on one of the other slots?

I Did slot 1 (Omega Rom) just to be on the safe side :)

So you are on SS and locked bootloader correct? And you were able to flash a 4.3 rom? Every time I try to install a 4.3 rom it boots into a black screen with the notification light on. So does this fix that?
Thanks

No, he only flashed the modem. Its a kernel thing. SS really hijacks the system after boot loader . Hopefully someone can come elaborate.

I haven't tried since this flash became available. I tried a few weeks ago and it never booted on 4.3. I was asking if this flash fixed that issue.

Interesting. I may try it out. I've been wanting to use some of the 4.3 roms out there, but I feel like I'll shoot myself if I mess up the ability to use safestrap and flash lol.

Oh my god... if anyone here is on safestrap, The radio is seperate from the rom entirely. We can flash these on safestrap however we want. We cant run any 4.3 roms because we dont have signed 4.3 kernel. Unless we can get kexec which redirects the kernel to a custom one or a bootloader unlock where the kernel doesnt need to be signed we are going to be stuck with the 4.2.2 MF3 kernel. Our only other choice is to upgrade to 4.3 and hope to god that there is root and that safestrap isnt fully patched. But im going to stay on 4.2.2. The 4.3 bootloader is hell on earth and tighter than fort knox. SELinux is set to enforcing?? no way. Right now MF3 is the last bootloader for any hope in getting kexec and a bootloader unlock somehow because Sammy just stepped their game up big time.

This modem ****s on my battery life. I have a theory that the bootloader and the radio talk to each other, Ive been through about 5 galaxy s4 phones due to different issues and ive had all of them rooted. With the MDL bootloader if I flash MF3 radios the battery life sucked but if I stayed on MDL radios it was amazing. Now on this replacement phone im stuck with mf3, If I flash MDL radios the battery life is trash but on MF3 its actually amazing. So with these new radios and the old MF3 bootloader I feel like this issue is reoccurring again. I have a friend with VZW who is on MDK who notices the same thing as I do when he flashed the ME7 radios.

Thanks to Design Gears for his leaked MJ6 4.3 ATT Firmware.

I extracted the modem and put it into a flashable zip to be used in cwm/twrp recoveries.

EDIT: I flashed it on Vision MJ5 Rom Firmware version 4.3 and so far so good. Then I flashed back to MF3 firmware ROM ShoStock 4.2.2 and flashed it and it worked on 4.2.2 as well.

I flashed this and the reception is good. Not much of a difference but the gps is very inconsistent. Even after it finds my location it will continue to blink and has a hard time keeping track of where I am on the road... I use the gps alot so this is a problem.. I'm going to have go back to mf3

Going to give this a shot on GoldenEye 9.1 tonight as well as CM10.2. See how it goes.

I have a flashable MF3 modem, Can I flash back if I have issues?

Yes you can flash back. I have done it multiple times. I am on TW based Roms though IN CASE that matters. But I believe others have flashed on cm based Roms with no issues.

I flashed this in safestrap on a different ROM slot than went to my stock ROM slot and saw I had this modem on. I tried flashing the mf3 modem on my stock ROM slot and its still on the mj6. I mean its not messing anything up right now and the official release is going to be out soon so I guess I'll stick to this unless something happen.

That's not surprising at all. The modern is not unique to which rom you're on. It's unique to the phone. And once your on mj6 modem I'd be surprised if you could go back

Well people have been saying they're going to go back to the mf3 modem. Only two ways I know to go back to mf3 modem would to flash the zip in SS which I did or erase everything off your phone and go back to factory stock settings than go through the hassle of setting up things again.

UPDATED 4-08-2015 with NEW ATT MODEM OC3 5.0.1 Modem

A NOTE TO CLARIFY MODEMS AND FLASHING THEM: Your Modem is your BASEBAND. Flashing a Modem will UPDATE your BASEBAND.

Flashing a Modem and Updating your BASEBAND does NOT change or lock down your bootloader at all/any further than it already is.

The BOOTLOADER is what determines how locked down your phone is and WHICH root/recovery method can be used.

IF you are on MDB or MDL BOOTLOADERS then flashing these modems will NOT effect your ability to flash anything or change your bootloader.
If you are on MF3 or Newer bootloader then you can use SAFESTRAP to have its recovery and flash compatible Roms AND these modems.
If you are on MK2 bootloader you can use MK2's version of Safestrap and flash compatible Roms and Any of these modems.

To VERIFY "WHICH BOOTLOADER" you have on your phone you can follow these basic instructions.
    1. Get "Terminal Emulator" from the play store.
    2. Open Terminal Emulator and then type "su" without the quotation marks.
    3. Hit the "x" and close Terminal Emulator once you have granted it Root Permission
    4. Open Terminal Emulator app, type "su" without the quotes
    5. Type getprop ro.bootloader
    6. Look at the first line that shows up which is the installed bootloader. It should read "something like"
    I337UCUAMDB/ I337UCUAMDL/ I337***MK2/ etc. etc.

I have put the other ATT Modems here as well for users to find the ATT specific modems in one place or in case you need/want to go back to your previous modem. Flashable in CWM/TWRP Recoveries.

FOR SAFESTRAP MF3 and NEWER USERS
This is what a tester DeadlySin9 did. He flashed the MJ6 Modem and it worked fine. He then tested going back to the MF3 modem. So if your signal becomes worse you CAN flash back to MF3 Modem but IF you have problems you may need to follow his advice below. You can see his comments here:

    DeadlySin9 said:
Baseband is back on MF3 after flashing. Interestingly enough it's booted into stock and safestrap isn't loading. SuperSU is loaded and giving toast notifications and even let me grant to TiBu. Will try reinstalling SS and/or rerooting and see what works.

Back into my Safestrap slot, modem stuck across reboot. Rerooting was necessary, although root wasn't lost (go figure). Data and service are enabled just fine. Will try going back to MJ6 modem
So give DeadlySin9 a Thanks for testing.

    FOR MK2 SAFESTRAP USERS
THANKS to Churapa for letting us know these DO work for the newer safestrap as well. Here is his comments and how he did it.

I can confirm that the modems work on Safestrap 3.71, I am running in the Stock strap the ROM SHostock v3.0 which is MK2 v4.3 and flashed the MJ6 modem from OP and my signal reception increased dramatically for the best.

I am putting these ATT I337 16GB and 32GB pit file here as a repository for anyone that may need it in the future. Please use at your OWN RISK and KNOW WHAT your doing and WHEN to use these to save your phones life. PLEASE do your research before using these to flash with Odin. They CAN ruin your device if used wrong or use the wrong one.

I337 ATT 16GB PIT FILE REPOSITORY
    DOWNLOAD LINK http://d-h.st/zxW
Thanks to "mbonus" and "Beast330" for getting us the 16GB pit files.

I am thinking there is no difference between the 16GB and 32GB pit file as they are exactly the same size and have the same exact md5 even though pulled from different phones.
