Google Voice update for iOS now with VOIP calling..
I just stumbled across this article and I'm in complete shock that iOS is getting the long awaited VOIP feature in Google Voice before the whole Android community. From a marketing perspective, it makes sense, given that Apple is probably paying a "pretty penny" to Google for its support for iOS devices(iPhones and iPads), but from a logic perspective, it doesn't make a lot of sense at all because one would think that Google's very own mobile platform would receive any improvements and updates before iOS. In my opinion. there are a couple of schools of thought here with this move..
1.) Marketing - iOS is paying good money to Google, therefore Google works hard to keep iOS at a level playing field with Android, even at the expense of iOS receiving certain software updates before Android.
2.) "We can use iOS as a 'testing ground' for new software and updates to current Google applications."
3.) Android 4.0 KitKat will be released soon and this feature will be included in a Google Voice roll-out to KitKat-powered Android devices.
Anyway... check out the article ----> "Free VOIP Calls Now Available On The iOS Version Of Google Voice, Android Update Is Up In The Air"
