Quirky - SpeechToText Glasses For Deaf
Found something cool on quirky, A site where you can post invention ideas and have them be made.
The Deaf, people who cannot hear, must use sign language to communicate with others. Sign language is not a universally understood or used language, like english. What if there could be a way for the deaf to understand english?
This pair of glasses is like any other. Except for one small detail. There is a built in projector or LCD in the lens which can project text. There is also a small data chip which allows connection to the cloud SpeechToText server and a microphone. When someone wishes to speak with you, you push a button powering on the STT system. The microphone then begins to receive the speech and relays it back to the STT cloud server. The cloud server then returns the relay with text which is then projected onto the lens. The deaf person can now read this lens and communicate back with the other individual. Thank you for reading. Prescription and Designer glasses may also be available.
