@mooneyb
I just leave the file in place although I leave my Gtab on all the time so I reboot to re-calabrate. I found it seemed to degrade over time. Probaly apps not designed for the Gtab messing with the settings.
Also step 20 (it's humor but step 20 is important, don't touch the screen when it's booting up)

..everyone should know that chickens do not wear coats: They like frocks.

1.Download app
2.Find a live chicken
3.Buy some super glue
4.Buy a coat for the chicken
5.Pluck the chicken
6.Put new coat on chicken and turn it loose
7.Locate the box your GTab came in
8.Super glue chicken feathers to GTab box (may void your warranty)
9.Install app on your GTab
10.Fill GTab box with ketchup
11.Find a butter knife
12.Set Gtab on floor
13.Place Gtab chicken feather box on floor (place drop cloth under box)
14.Gtab box must be 6.66 ft from Gtab
15.Open app on Gtab
16.Hit Calibrate button
17.Without touching GTab quickly run over to GTab box and stab it with the butter knife 5 times
18.Spin in circle 3 times to the left and then 4 times to the right
19.Walk calmly to your Gtab
20.Observe it....DON'T TOUCH IT YET
21.Clean up the Gtab box mess and wash your hands
22.You may now retrieve your GTab and enjoy its new vodoo calibration fix

:D
I think that's the funniest S I've read on this forum yet! I cry-laughed. Thank you.

Good app too.

Nook Color. Used a rooster and a steak knife. Worked fine.

This is a Calibration app that you can launch from the app drawer instead of the crazy calibration.ini method that has been floating around since day one. This app was originally discovered by BumbleBee. The orignal app was called "moduleap" so if you picked it up while in our IRC chat room then uninstall it and download this.

I have modded the TouchScreen calibration app. It is easier to use now... includes a launcher icon renamed to be easier to understand it's purpose.... removed the ERROR messages etc.
Again uninstall the old moduleap app if you installed it recently.

Make sure you don't touch the screen during recalibration.

THIS WILL WORK ON ANY ROM

Download: http://vegantab.gojimi.com/download/TouchRecalibrate.apk

As Always Enjoy!
worked for Nook ColoR..... thanks

+1 on running on the NookColor. Slight improvement in trying to close browser tabs on those tiny X's now.

I got a little confused, and the chicken ended up butterflied and on my smoker, but the calibration worked anyway. Thanks!

I smiled thru the first few pages... four of us have asked for help with the ZIP file that downloads now instead of the APK file. You can do whatever you want to the chickens... just PLEASE tell us how to install the ZIP file!

Below helped a little, but this is what fixed it for me. Seriously, night and day!!! Don't forget to put a copy on SDcard1 & 2 if you have Vegan installed.

This is not my creation, but taken from:

androidforums.com

http://androidforums.com/viewsonic-gtablet/264395-touch-calibration-must.html

1. open Astro and navigate to the root of your internal SDcard
2. click "multi" in the toolbar, then click "zip"
3. enter the name as Calibration.ini
4. long press the .zip file you just created, click edit -> rename -> then delete ".zip" from the file name to make it "calibration.ini" instead of "calibration.ini.zip" and click ok.
5. VEGAn users only, repeat this process (or copy and paste the .ini file) in the root of SDcard2
6. exit astro and power down your g-tab
7. turn it back on (DO NOT TOUCH SCREEN WHILE BOOTING)
8. remove the calibration.ini files from both SD cards.

Not what I expected, but this method worked for me nicely; thanks!

A word of explaination; the link in post #1 let me download a zip file... calibration.ZIP
(as opposed to the expected calibration.APK). The zip file contains information, but no APK files, so I tried installing it from the boot manager; "install ZIP file from SDcard".. nothing happened and nothing installed.

Is the link bad? The zip file incomplete?

Rename the calibration.zip file to calibration.apk and install. But I believe it should download a file called TouchRecalibrate.apk and not calibrate. If it is TouchRecalibrate.zip then rename it to apk. The manual method was to put a blank file called calibration.ini in the root directory of the SD card and reboot. On some other devices I have had the apk automatically get switched to a zip file when downloading for some reason. Was not sure if it was OS dependant or browser dependant.

Thanks for the app, fixed the problem I had in the upper left screen. I've also found that flashing a new rom has fixed the issue.

what i did was I deleted tourecalibrate.apk and placed an empthy calibration.ini on my sd card via computer an plugged it into phone, it did nothing
If your screen is not responding to your touches or is very sluggish at responding, then try these simple steps once you have the Superuser and Terminal apps from Market installed. Open the Terminal app and in the window type only the commands in bold (and, don't touch the screen until the '#' prompt returns):
    Code:
    $ [B]su[/B]
    # [B]echo -n 1 > /sys/devices/platform/tegra_touch/calibration; sleep 5[/B]
Based on my research into this issue, I believe it should work--and if it does report success here please so that I can suggest it to other users. If it does not try the procedures outlined in this thread.

EDIT: Or, just flash the zip file in the attachment using CWM to re-calibrate the touchscreen. It should work as long as the CWM kernel is one of the stock VS kernels (version 2.6.32.xx), or, a custom one based off of it---like the clemsyn and pershoot kernels.
