After applying both updates (8860 and 8862) into my kitchen I noticed that I lost the possibility to sync my gmail contacts, I solved that by not importing SyncApps and SyncPlatform into my kitchen, you can find SyncApps and SyncPlatform in the 8860 cab, and yes I know there is another solution to sync my gmail contacts but I don't see any difference when I leave those pkg's out of the rom.

The MSI spits out an error about a DLL required for install not being able to run. I am on Windows 8 and trying to install the 1.4.236 version. Any help?

Hi there!

First of all - A really BIG THANKS to all you guys for all your time and work creating excellent software like this!!!

I'm running it to some problem with OS Builder. I'm trying to make a custom rom for my Lumia 710, but everytime I try to "build" the os-new.nb file I end up with a error, OS Builder stops and shuts down. I have searched and read almot every thread and post that have something to with OS Builder but I can't figure out what is going wrong. I have tried this on three different computers with same result.

OS Builder stops at the same place every time. I have followed this guide:
http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1659103
and has not changed anything in the rom - just trying to learn and figure out how everythig works and how to build the .nb file.

The problem occures when it is buildig the .nb file, I click "Start" and everything looks fine at first, but when it reaches --- Creating Dump --- I see five files listing and then the "Timing" window stopt at "Preprocessing" for a few seconds then the error-window pops up saying OS Builder has stoped working.

I have tried this on three different computers, one with XP Pro SP3 fully updated and all .NET packages installed, and two other computers running Win 7 Ultimate also fully updated. All computers are running 32 bit OS.

The error popup gives me this info: (Sorry for the swedish info but I think you guys can figure out what it means anyway)

I also have a few logfiles that gets created when the error occure.

I would really appreciate if someone would help me here!

Thanks!

UPDATE - Found the problem!
Ok, I have found the problem! There seems to be some language/locale problem when running OS Builder on a computer with Swedish language and locale and that did throw up the error window. When I changed the locale setting to English/UK on my swedish Windows 7 OS Builder works like a charm!!!

Thank you very much, This is exactly my problem, which I can't build my rom (OSbuilder has stop working). This error now is resoluted by the way you public. Thanks again!

include cab updates in my custom rom

Hi everyone, 3 weeks ago i was totaly noob in winphone world, i've read many xda threads, but i cant find the details about what i'm trying to do.
My goal is only unlock sideload, thanks to xda(registry infos, etc...) , OSbuilder and DppImplant, this is done but updates remove the sideload unlock as expected, then ofcourse i need to include cab updates in my custom rom.
I've read this thread and seen posts of people doing that. I would like to know please how to do same.
I can get the cab links as described in the forum, but don't know where i will have to add the cabs, in SYS ? in EXT ? in OEM ? And i'm not sure if this question is logic.
Ofcourse i've downloaded and watched x-times the video tutorials about packages, but that didnt helped me :(
I'm sure i'm missing something to really understand packages management in OsBuilder.
I've seen a post on this thread talking about windowsupdate cabs update and dsm, but i'm affraid i don't really understand dsm files
If someone could please describes the main steps to achieve this goal, it will be very nice. (links to threads are welcome, since i'm sure this question has been already asked, but can't find where)
(and last question : there is a way to be sure that the wp cab updates will be applied first ? Because my registry sideload unlock is just a modification of the exisiting registry values in the rom (official one))
If aditional infos are needed to answer , don't hesitate.
(Lumia 800 : advanced config/wp7roottools dosent work on my device to prevent relock :( )
Thx in advence !!!!!!!!!!
Sorry long post.

EDIT: hi, i've uncompressed the cab update files, then uncompressed the multiple cab.pku and cab.pkg, things becomes to look like the video tutorial called 02-grouping.avi, i think i can try things to achieve my goal :)
I keep you informed about my progress, got to test some things...(but what makes me affraid is the number of packages that are being updated, this will take some time  )

still trying to include cab update files in my custom ROM

Hi everyone,
still stuck since my previous post.
due to the number of packages inside the 4 update cabs i want to include inside my custom rom, i deceided to try to not uncompress the cab files before include them with osbuilder.
what i've done : i created separate folders inside oem folder, one for each wp update with an empty dsm file that is fixed by osbuilder, added the packages in cif and sof packages editor (at last position)
added the rgu with dsm i need to sideload unlock my lumia 800 at bottom of packages.
i flashed my phone and... updates are not applied :(
i really need some theorical help plz.
anyone ? even just a link ? (forum's search always send me either nothing, either 4353450 results to my requests...)
spent too many energy for dload=>qualcomm now seems i'm too tiered to do things wich i have the right tool for(osbuilder).
i cross fingers for an usefull answer.

Cherches bien sur xda, et tu trouveras des tutos qui devraient t'intéresser.
Il y en a même sur des forums français, puisque tu est français ...

Looking on xda and you will find some tutorials that should interest you.
There are even on french forums, since you are French...

    Hi all!
I want to present the tool which can port/rebuild XIP (NK) and build IMGFS partition file for Windows Phone 7 with real registry recompiling and relocations according to WP7 memory model.
It can also build NB (D000FF and WMSTORE containers) and NBH files for HTC WP7 devices (tested on HTC HD2, HTC HD7, HTC Mozart, HTC Radar, HTC Titan).

This thread is the continuation of OSBuilder for WM topic. The future discussion about WP7 ROM assembling by means of OsBuilder will take place over here

Thanks again to the team (AndrewSh, Feropont, Vladimir1973, lucifer3006) - for the support, for the tests, for your work!
Special thanks to HD2Owner for enthusiasm and his titanic work in testing WP7mode.
Thanks a lot to AnDim for his tenderness and important information provided.

    Sincerely,
    Barin and Ultrashot

[POLL] What new features do you want to have in OsBuilder future releases

    24
    Changelog - OS Builder V1.3.187 FULL (03.11.2011)

    1. Fixed issue with deleting a parameter defined in boot.rgu, if the removing directive was stored in other packages - the post http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=18251257&postcount=564

The second step to full WP7 support
    2. Relocation engine is totally redesigned. (Hats off to Ultrashot for valuable help with WP7 modules Z .reloc sections)
    3. Added possibility of porting/rebuilding XIP (NK) and the assembling IMGFS partition file for Windows Phone 7 with real registry recompiling and relocations according to WP7memory model (tested on HTC HD2, HTC HD7 and HTC Mozart. Credit for tests goes to Feropont and HD2Owner)

I want to warn that the registry files have to be checked by registry preview, because there is a hell of syntax errors in the original registry. Frankly, it seems (IMHO) that first the registry was generated and then some comments for dumb and mistakes were added.
Registry Preview will define incorrect lines to help you to fix that. The most common errors are:
    - Parameter name without the quotes
    - The comments are not marked with a semicolon or marked with colon.
    - HEX type values end with point (the last or the only parameter line)
    - The value MULTI_SZ contains comments between the lines parameter
    - Existence of Directives for conditional compilation IF ... END (it's not a mistake, but currently these directives are not processed, so you should label them as a comment)

    4. The dsm-editor has now the feature to set/clear Z-flags for modules.
Warning! This flag is used for WP7 XIP modules only if the RW section of a module must be located within the boundaries of RAMStart-RAMFree (nk.exe, kernel.dll, kitl_noplat.dll and similar)
    5. For WP7 - Added ability to edit the file MsDefaultcerts.dat (see Additional Tools)
    6. For WP7- Added ability to edit files CoreOS.dat and initobj.dat (see Additional Tools)
    7. Added ability to automatically insert a certificate which will sign files while assembling DefaultCerts.dat and MsDefaultCerts.dat (for WP7) - see the settings in Build Dump and ROM. The original files stay untouched.
    8. XIP Port settings - added the list of additional MS packages (for WP7). When porting WP7 XIP, the packages specified in this list will be replaced with donor packages.

At the moment, we can safely add the following packages to this list:
    BaseDrivers_NK
    CCFGSVC
    GFX_NK
    KFPCRT
    Watson_Core
    WinCENLS

    9. In Configuration and packages tab of Setting - added the option "Always include 0409packages." If your WP7kitchen allows the language selection, it is recommended to use this option enabled to include English-language packages by default to your ROM, otherwise there is risk to get non-bootable ROM.
    10. Added - the ability to build NB files (! For the moment only D000FF container !, NB assembling for the new _wmstore structure devices is not supported yet) and NBH files for WP7
To build NB you should have the original NB and should define the way to it in Build ROM settings, for example ".\NB\OS.nb". Unfortunately, to get rid of the original NB is not yet possible, but the work is in process. Hats off to AnDim for help and information provided. NBH build configuration settings are similar to the previous version, except that the CID tab can contain multiple values (each value in a separate line)
Warning! If you plan to use for cooking WP7 dump obtained by earlier versions of OSBuilder, I would strongly recommend you to dump again, and to copy the new ROM template \ ROM.tpl to your kitchen. The new template will contain additional service information, which was not recorded in earlier versions of OSBuilder

    11. OSBuilder is fully backward compatible with WM6.x kitchens, (it was a big deal btw, but it was implemented). When you open the kitchen OSBuilder automatically detects the required mode WM6/WP7.
This compatibility will remain for the future, but no new features for WM kitchens will be added. OSBuilder WM Kitchens Development is terminated due to the termination of WM6.5.x development from MS side.

Thanks again to the team (AndrewSh, Feropont, Vladimir1973) - for the support, for the tests, for your work!
Special thanks to HD2Owner for enthusiasm and his titanic work in testing WP7mode.
Thanks a lot to AnDim for his tenderness and important information provided.

    Sincerely,
    Barin and Ultrashot
