its for Galaxy S GT-I9000 AT&T Captivate, Bell Vibrant, Telstra GT-I9000T, Epic 4G and the Galaxy Tab.
The only way to know for sure is to try it but who knows what might happen
i dont know why you would want to when there is nothing wrong with using odin unless you dont have windows but you could run windows in a virtual environment I guess

^ It's true but you have to mount the USB driver in Windows while you are in Download mode on your phone.
Tried it long back ago using a guide but ODIN failed to flash!
