Even saying PCS (1900 MHz) isn't enough because band 2 is PCS (1900 MHz) too. Point is, all you need to know is the band (1,2,3,4,etc) for compatibility because simply saying 700 or 1900 ain't gonna tell you exactly what you need to know.

Sorry your first post was a bit confusing. I 100% agree with your point. Sprint actually uses bands 25, 26, and 41 for their current and upcoming LTE networks. Their version of the G2 is that first phone that supports all these LTE bands.
I hope some kind of EFS hacking to enable other bands on the G2 is coming soon. Really need HSPA over AWS. Haven't seen any activity on the board yet about this though.
