I can now make phone Calls/Texts without a tethered cell at all.. Calls/Texts are made via wifi:

-Install Google voice (sideloaded)
-Install Groove IP (avail from Amazon for $5)
-LCD Density Changer (if you havent already)

Setup a Google voice account on your cell. If you have Sprint, Bonus, as Sprint offers GV integration and you can port your existing Number. Log into GV from the Groove IP app. Set to make calls only via wifi.

LCD Density will need to be in the 90-100 range to be useable.

If you have echo or delay issues you can tweak the settings to compensate.

Texts can be sent/Received via Google Voice. GV has widgets avail that can display voice messages , display/compose text messages.

**Issue**
-If you are tethered to a cell via Motoactv app; Incoming calls answered on your Motoactv will prompt you "Call from ______; To accept press 1, to send to VM press 2". This prompt is from Groove IP and cannot be disabled from the settings (option is there but isnt working) which means you have to confirm the call twice. Issue gone once Groove IP is uninstalled.
-Edit- Turns out this is a GV setting. Go to your GV inbox>settings>Groups and edit call screening in the groups.

-I have found I can make calls but in order to receive you have to have GV foward the call. This isnt really too bad of an issue for me...I hate talking to people anyway, LOL! Seriously tho, If they call you and your synced you should be able to answer the call (it just wont be over wifi)

-Even bigger issue, I have found the person you are calling cannot hear you (which makes this pointless untill it can be corrected) You can hear them tho. This is when using the Groove IP app, not Motosync.

the testing continues...

If anyone is interested in helping me test out a few update.zips tonight please join #motoactv on freenode after 11pm EST. You'll need the alpha recovery flashed to the device, so I would appreciate it if you had that preloaded. Thanks.

ps helping me out could get you on a rooted v5 before everyone else! (Incentiveware?)

I don't know why, but I haven't been able to use freenode IRC anymore bc it keeps saying server failure at captcha, even though I know i'm typing it in right. If you want, I have the recovery flashed already and will test for you. I'm a dev too... :D

Seriously?! You're like the 3rd person that's posted those exact words. Read the other pages.

Edit: So I have a feeling we're going to be seeing alot more of these posts. If my suspicions are right, it's a bot that searches XDA for some of the more lengthy threads, takes a random post from the first page, and make a new post with the same text as the random post that it selected from the first page. If you click on his name and say "Find all posts by" it's the same scenario for all of his other posts. Not to mention, that's not the first time that has happened in this thread. This also explains why we never heard any reply from the other account that did that too.

Not sure what the purpose is... It's a simple script, doesn't make enough posts to spam the database, all it really does is increase post count. Really kinda pointless.

+1 to Jay. It's getting old.

EDIT: It was mentioned, so I started working on this...

http://motoactv.wikispaces.com/

We really do need a wiki to keep track of everything. And CEnnis, will that rootzwiki page be updated or new pages made with new releases? If it'll just be updated, I can drop it right in! :)

Not sure, I'd have to talk to utkanos about it. For certain, nothing is getting updated until he gets a hold of the device; even then nothing may come of it, so I'd say just drop the link in, and we'll go from there.

I am having a weird issue. I can't install any custom apk. Previously rooted with easy modder 1.0 and installed PackageInstaller.apk. Following which installing custom apk is working. Recently I reroot with easy modder 1.2 to get custom recovery, reinstalled PackageInstaller.apk and all custom apk failed to install. Try installing custom apk from root explorer and easy modder 1.2 give an error of "out of space". I have about 30mb left. I try to root with MotoACTV Root Tool V1.1.2 gain but the "out of space" still remains after the root.

Can any one provide lead to fix this?

Return to stock, then try rooting again, and keep us updated. 30mb might not be enough. Move files to sd when you can.

RE: motoactv . wikispaces . com

ClearD,
I have some items from this thread that I'd like to add to the wiki-- I am joining the site over there, do you mind if I add some items and clean up some things on that resource? I'm glad you've created it and I am linking it in my sig as well. Specifically, I'd like to follow the format from XDA wikis so if we get a forum we can migrate it nicely.
Thank you,
Tom

I have seen similar issues on phones/tablets when the builtin space is fixing to run out. It won't let you use all of it, it has to keep a portion of it open. Try going into Manage applications and moving what you can to the SD card, it will really help. Things like Netflix, SlingPlayer, and Angry Birds are like 20-25m each, whereas most apps are a meg or under.

Did you restart both the MOTOACTV and the pc?

Sent from my HTC Inspire 4G using XDA-funded carrier pigeons

EDIT: Also, is it recognized through ADB or Fastboot?

To test, in regular booted mode, type:

Code:
adb devices

Or in fastboot mode, type:

Code:
fastboot devices

It is no longer listed under ADB devices and nothing happens when i try to check the fastboot devices.

Also, i did restart the pc and motoactv.

    CWMR ported

    Hello,

I have ported CWMR 5.0.2.7 to the Motoactv (F100) device.

    actvcmwr.png

    Code:
    #include <std_disclaimer.h>
    /*
    * Your warranty is now void.
    *
    * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
    * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
    * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
    * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
    * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
    */

The procedure for this is as follows. You MUST have working adb knowledge to use this and you must be able to restore using the available tool should any problems arise. This is considered an ALPHA release that may need additional work. I did not have access to the device during the port so all testing was done through TheEndGame7. THERE MAY BE ISSUES, you are warned.

    1) Download this file: CWMR5x_F100_recoveryA.img
    2) adb push CWMR5x_F100_recoveryA.img /data/local/
    3) adb shell (become root)
    4) dd if=/data/local/CWMR5x_F100_recoveryA.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk1p13
    5) exit adb from the device
    6) adb reboot recovery (you should be in CWMR now)

The source for the device config is here. Please feel free to go wild with development on this because I do not have the device and likely won't be contributing much more except bug fixes. If you use this source, please give credit where it's due.

NOTE: there are missing images(known). This is because the ramdisk is EXTREMELY finicky on this device and it WILL NOT BOOT past 3.66mb in size. I trimmed out things that weren't needed in order to make this work. The basic functionality you need should be there. adb is also not functioning properly yet within recovery.

Well, it was a *****, but here is build 2, moving to Beta at this point in 'Moto red' by request of TEG.

There is 1 lingering issue: usb support in recovery. It is a bastard, going to really have to tear this thing apart to debug why. Right now, recovery can backup, restore, wipe, flash roms, etc. All the stuff you're used to working, now does. I fixed images by shrinking the kernel to fit more stuff in here. You should no longer get any weird image errors. I bumped you up to 5.0.2.8 source as well.

Flash this file the same as before via adb and dd.
    CWMR5x_F100_recoveryB.img

    adb push CWMR5x_F100_recoveryB.img /data/local/
    adb shell
    # dd if=/data/local/CWMR5x_F100_recoveryB.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk1p13
    # exit
    adb reboot recovery

Some additional notes I'd like to share that might help you as you mess with this device now that I've played with one.

    1) NEVER use adb reboot bootloader for any reason. You get stuck in a ****tily programmed loop of hell. The way out of this loop is by following these instructions:

    a) hold START, POWER, VOL UP, VOL DOWN together for 10 seconds at least. You should see the screen flicker on and off twice.
    b) plug in the USB cable to turn device on
    c) you should boot back to rom, if not, do it again. It's touchy.

    2) The 'soft' reset is done by START + POWER for 5 seconds.

Enjoy. Source is updated. This will likely be the last update unless I get adb working.

Attached is the latest copy of my MotoACTV Easy Modder v1.0. This is a MAJOR upgrade! Adds numerous features and completely revises how backups are stored on the computer. Need to use 7zip to extract it, wouldn't let me upload that big of a .zip file.

To make this version see your old backups, open your IMGs folder, make a new folder (no spaces), drag all your old .img files into it.

    ChangeLog:
    v1.0 Updated 1/16/12
    - Redesigned GUI
    - Integrated SuperOneClick (Very basic at the moment)

    - Backup
    - Now supports multiple images
    - Restore / Flash

Working on an All-in-One batch file with an easy to use menu to try and make the alleviate some problems people are having so that the IRC can be used more for development progress and creative ideas rather than support.

    - Restore (system.img and userdata.img)
    - Install Launcher (Honeycomb and Zeam)
    - Replace PackageInstaller.apk
