Has anyone run sygic navigation successfully with miui roms? If so, what version and build of sygic navigation did you use?

try out Maverick, there is free version whit just a little restrictions compared to paid. on the settings you can select what maps you want to use, google, nokia ovi, wikimapia, open street maps, and plenty more choices.

theres is also a program for pc where you can select what map areas and zoomlevels you want to download, and then you can compile map cache from them and transfer it to phone, tough its loads of small files, and a pain in the... but you could get the maps of the area you are heading to phone from the pc. looks like caching of google maps is disabled because google requested that.

some links...
http://www.codesector.com/maverick.php - about the app
http://mobac.sourceforge.net/ - Mobile Atlas Creator, to create map files on pc for mobile use. also other supported android map apps listed here.

after looking trough those other apps, OruxMaps looks interesting, fully free.

thank you Whippler but the two suggestions of yours have no POI for lebanon... they're just a map...

I wanted a gps navigator to use offline, I downloaded Sygic gps navigator tried for 7 days and ended up buying it. It is the best gps navigator I have tested on my phone. It has a map downloader which downloads the full gps map for use offline. IF you have root,Formating data and reflashing rom reactivates trial, but this is to much work for using a gps.

Since version 2.0 you can add a tile server url to maps you've downloaded with Mobile Atlas Creator, see the knowledge base on our site.

Also support for SQLite atlases (single file instead of thousands) is almost ready.

PS. I'm also using Sygic GPS for turn-by-turn navigation and it works good.

Maybe you wanna try Navigon. It isn't cheap, I know, but as far as I know the best Navi replacement. After you purchased, it'll download the maps over wifi, so no mobile data needed for it to work.

Device: HTC Desire Z
Rom: Virtuous Quattro RC3
Clockspeed: 1.2 gHz
S-on

Ok, i just had a solution that actually worked... I downloaded the winmo garmin map, and converted it to an android compatible version that actually works flawlessly...

Currently, I'm using RMAP (free, get on Market)
Then, use Mobile Atlas Creator to generate offline map: http://mobac.sourceforge.net/

    Support run on Mac/Linux/Windows
