Re: [ROM][UVALL4][CWM/TWRP][AROMA]Note2 Tweaked 1.5 UPDATED 3/6

You find the UI dramatically slower than stock? Did you do a full wipe if not what rom did you flash over possible a N71xx?

I really don't see a difference in UI speed at all.

There isn't a difference. This rom is as smooth as you're gonna see.

Hi- Great Rom!! Thanks. Just wanted to know is there a way the UI can be faster? Such as the opening of apps, scrolling etc.

Thanks in advance and keep up the excellent work

If you want it to be fast turn off all the animation.

I'm not a big fan of theming but since my insomnia is on full on mode right now, just throwing this out there : how about a totally blacked out Tweaked ? I call it theming with a purpose since it also saves battery life on amoled screens :)

Plus, of course, with black being so black on our screens, it looks really badass :)

It would be freaking sweet! I tried a white out theme and it broke all sorts of stuff but a theme made for "Tweaked" would be awesome! If you come up with something let me know! I'll test the $hit out of it! Same goes for Alexia Whitehurst and dwitherell! Will in and able to a be a guinea pig!

I searched but didn't see what I was experiencing. The stock messaging app force closes immediately and will not open. I tried Handcent also but the same thing is happening. Everything else is running very smooth. I do need to get text messaging working since that is an important part of a phone.

So far I have cleared data, wiped cache and dalvik cache, and fixed permissions with no luck. Maybe a bad flash? Did I have to install text messaging during the aroma installer?

I have yet to see such a thing, sorry to hear of the troubles. It sounds pretty reproducible on your end though - could you send me a logcat?

To all that would embark on such an endeavor, I have this to say to you...

Yes please, and thank you kindly :)

Is it a way to change the color of the signal bars? I tried using the tsm feature in the settings still no luck

Nope.

Not yet anyway... hmm...

Maybe connect that to the toggles also? If that would even be possible. Or make an option to change that independently same as clock and such. It would have to change the color of all icons tho to look good. Unless you put a sort of mini theme (systemuiapk) in aroma. I do like the idea of being able to change them colors tho, I'd make mine a darker grey.

Yeah that is what I'm wrestling with right now (that and trying to decipher the crazy that is usb tether smali) - if one were allowed to change then all would need to change... and to some degree that could be semi manageable if I just stuck to the system-level (i.e. right-aligned) icons. That being said - the data/wifi activity arrows will be annoying if I did that... hmm... and I don't see an easy way around that one... regardless, I'll at least try to tinker w/ the signal strength ones and see how things shake out.

Well it's okay its just I'm use to using the simplistic app that allows that feature.

Out of curiosity - the color change option... it only changes the signal icons, it changes all icons, or you can choose which ones to change (and if the latter, what sort of icons can it change)?

Wifi and data can be changed and clock.

I'm having a little issue with wifi direct. I can receive files but can not send. Just sit there waiting to send.

    Tweaked 1.6 UVALL4 T889 Samsung Galaxy Note 2

NOTE: 1.6 is OTA-only, so you need to already be on 1.5 in order to get to 1.6.

Hey everyone - resident no-one-in-particular here that can't stay away from tinkering it seems. While I haven't had the Note 2 very long, I've been messing around with out-of-date phone stuff for a while now so I thought I'd try and get together a few of the things I've done in the past here. This was my first foray into the world of TouchWizzed Jellybean, and as I had minimal experience with such newer buttery goodness this has been quite the time consuming process - but on the upside I'm pretty happy with how things have turned out.

It should be noted that this is still a work in progress, but I feel enough is done to warrant it being posted - that way others (assuming others give it a shot) can let me know if things don't work or if any oddities come up. Also feel free to comment on how this might improve or if I've gone about anything in a not-so-smart way or if there is anything you would like to see (or wish wasn't there) - I can't promise I'll do anything about it, but such requests keep me motivated and learning, and thats been the driving force behind my tinkering since it began really :)

I AM IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS (GOOD OR BAD) AS A RESULT OF FLASHING OR ATTEMPTING TO FLASH WHAT IS POSTED HERE!

    CWM/TWRP Installation instructions:

Usual rules apply - while very much stable in my experience you should be cautious whenever you flash. Make sure to wipe data/factory reset to avoid issues. Flash in CWM/TWRP recovery - this should of course imply that you will need to already have such things in place if you are interested in giving this a try.

    - Backup your current setup/data
    - Download file and place on sdcard
    - Boot into CWM/TWRP recovery
    - Recommended to wipe data/factory reset in CWM/TWRP recovery
    - Select and install the .zip you put on your sdcard

    Miscellaneous Notes:

As the Note2 is privy to a number of ROMs and kernels, for the sake of simplicity I have included the unaugmented UVALL4 stock kernel. Also - this is still pretty much unthemed (if any would like to change this PLEASE let me know - a themer I am not!). There are a few minor theme-ish things going on in Mms and the Dialer, and the appearance of the pulldown is slightly different, but nothing major by any means. This is primarily UVALL4 stock-themed - and as can be gathered with the look and the included kernel the thinking behind the whole setup is stock with some extra options. My guess is most pre-existing things will give this issues, but I can't imagine any of the TW-based custom kernels out there to cause any grief.

I managed to get the Aroma stuff figured out, so starting with Tweaked 1.1 I will be using an AROMA-based install package. Make sure to thank amarullz for the awesome work!

Download links can be found further down.
Let me know if there are any suggestions/issues/etc - happy flashing!

    Re: [ROM][UVALL4][CWM/TWRP][AROMA]Note2 Tweaked 1.5 UPDATED 3/6

Is there any trick to lock rotation in landscape without the need of some random 3rd party app?

Lol a slip of the finger and bam - you got a thanks :)
I am not sure on this one... my guess is 3rd party app or build.prop edit maybe (though if that's possible I dunno what that edit would be lol).

So I'm about 90% of the way through SystemUI for 4.1.2... I've got a few toggles to clean up, some stock ones to explore, some odd stock home button behavior to look into, some new icon stuff to figure out... lots of little things. That being said, all the big statusbar mods are now in place, which makes me a happy camper anyway :) Once I've got things settled with SystemUI, I'll get 1.6 around to occupy folks until I finish off all the little things that are still left :)

    Howdy folks -

I've managed to get through most of what I call the "little" edits for 4.1.2 - there are still a few more before the 4 or so files that will be a beast to deal with. I'm thinking once I get to that point (all the little things are done), I'll take a step back and get 1.6 together for folks. I was going to do just a little OTA-style one for it and that was it, but I think (given issues people have been reporting w/ 4.1.2) it would be best to stick to the usual ways :)

Also - I've been running stock (even unrooted ?!?) for the last several days, and I haven't noticed any major issues. The reported lockscreen bug floating around looks like a bit of a pita to actually pull off, and the battery drain has been no different - BUT given that I am 1) not in a market set to get LTE right away and 2) there is no LTE on around me at the moment I set the network mode to automatic 4g/3g/2g as opposed to automatic lte/4g/3g/2g... just throwing that out there :)

    Off to bed I go.
