Can't get this method to work, need a suggestion

I was hoping to get a nudge in the right direction here...

Basically, my company says they will pay my monthly cell bill on my Revo, as long as I get it back to 'stock' and no more rooting. (boo...)

I'm on Broken Out ROM right now. Trouble for me, is that I cannot get my PC's to pick load the right drivers and get my phone recognized by LGNPST. The driver download from LG isn't everything needed, as any Windows-based PC I have tried to do this on, still can't recognize a Serial CDC driver.
(I've tried on XP, 32-bit, Windows 7 64 bit, and for what it's worth, Windows 8 64 bit)

People have said to install the 'Verizon' driver that comes up when connecting the phone, but I'll be damned if I can find a place to acquire that, since it's on a different ROM now, I don't get that option when connecting. The cable I'm using is the original USB data cable that came with the Revo.

Any hints to try would be appreciated. I've got a Linux box available too, so if there is an option available on that route, heck I'll take it!

Thanks for any advice you can offer!

Put that in your Models folder inside the LG folder...
I have more files laying around if you need them, let me know, and I'll upload..

This didn't do anything. I registered the .dll's but still nothing showing up in LGNPST.

Thanks for the response though.

I just reread and saw your statement about the LG pop up driver when you plug in the phone and all that..

I found a driver that worked when I did this the last time:

http://www.mediafire.com/download/w3uest7a1lnx486/LG_VZW_United_WHQL_v2.5.2.exe

http://www.mediafire.com/download/z8e182j0o1zxaiv/LG_Eseem_Drivers.msi

Can't remember which but I think both work anyway...

Also, just in case, remember that when you install the LGNPST thing, it has to be done in a certain order... Took me a couple installs to figure that one out. :)

Here are links to my ubuntu with all the instructions and files you need to use LGPNST to tot back to v9

Once you do the TOT back to V9, I suggest doing a factory reset on the phone to go completely back to stock.

http://ubuntuone.com/21YiUCmDQXqXgZwp1SngPJ - Instructions

http://ubuntuone.com/49HLgMtLoxjLUVhqrggrkP - the LGPNST zip

http://ubuntuone.com/0pFwf75KnOSEE2hB3xb8MV - the DLL file you need

http://ubuntuone.com/1eGurihhbLcPl9vriNhOBM - the full V9 tot file you will need.

I no longer use my Revo, but still have it and may try and use it on my home wifi with a google voice # so I can cut out my home phone. :D

I read there is a ZVB update out? Any chance of getting the .TOT posted?

Thanks so much for getting these tot files uploaded. I wanted to give a small something back to you guys, so I mirrored a few of the common files we use onto a dedicated server of mine. To make it a bit easier, I recompressed them into a single file each instead of multiple .rars, etc. These should be up for a long time:

66.85.128.51/phone/LGPNST.zip
66.85.128.51/phone/VS910.dll
66.85.128.51/phone/VS910ZV7_10.S7_10.P58008.R5.zip
66.85.128.51/phone/VS910ZV8_12.S8_12.P58013.R5.zip
66.85.128.51/phone/VS910ZV9_05.S9_05.P58014.R5.zip
66.85.128.51/phone/GingerVolt2.0.zip
66.85.128.51/phone/BrokenOutRevo2.0.zip

Let me know if you need anything else added, this are just the first few I had around.

EDIT: I dont have enough posts to put a direct link, so you just have to paste them into your address bar manually.

Thanks so much, this was really helpful

You would have to ask jackpot about where they came from. As far as using Linux, the answer is no. I use a Acer one netbook with xp. And no to the zvb tot. If I had a back up of zvb then I can build a flashable zip.

Register dll on Windows 8 Fix

Not sure if this fix was in here .. thought I would post anyways.

Wanted to give a thanks for your tutorial here. But wanted to add in a problem and a solution I can into along the way with all this.

I followed Directions to a T here and I still was unable to register the dll file.
after a ton of google searches and forumn reading I came across this fix to solve my issue.

I am using Windows 8 and this was the fix I got .

Go to your search glass in windows 8 type command Prompt right click on the command prompt and run as administrator
Type EXACTLY or right click copy then right click Paste into the command prompt
regsvr32.exe "C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST\Models\VS910.dll

walla everything was good to go after that. I can't take credit for this but wanted to pass along my fix and maybe save someone else a Headache.

Credit goes to this Page here

Disclaimer: I last did this 2 months ago.

I think I had to do a full data wipe.
I don't remember. Have you restarted since flashing the tot?

yeah i i done a factory reset to get out of test mode and still nothing then i figured it might help to do a hard reset with the volume down and power button and one thing i did notice is that when connected to LGNPST my rf mode says sleep i dunno if that matters and even when i do a restore in cwm back to stock rooted from the backup i have it doesnt change

    Let the fun begin!

    Instructions:
    0. Install the software that pops up when you plug in your phone.

    1. Get the LGNPST Package with the GenericModels and Components Plug-In.
    http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?cghufvvn43m7bam

    2. Get the driver for the phone and install it
    http://www.lg.com/us/support/mc-support/drivers/LGAndroidDriver_Ver_1.0_All.exe

    3. Get the Stock Rom TOT file and extract it.
    POSTED ABOVE

    4. Get the DLL file specifically for the Revolution
    http://www.mediafire.com/?4gdq6dsm643v9ur

    5. Extract the "LGNPST Store & Lab"

    6. Install the following order:
    a. LGNPSTv1.2_Store_Version.msi
    b. LGNPST_v1.2_Lab_Version.msi
    c. Components >> LGNPST_Components_Ver_5_0_12_0.msi
    d. GenericModels >> LGNPST_GenericModels_Ver_5_0_10_0.msi

    7. Run "Right_Click_Register_DLL.reg"

    8. Make a new folder called "Models" in the program's directory
    Default: "C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST\"

    9. Grab the "VS910.dll" and put it in the "Models" folder.

    10. Right Click "VS910.dll" and click on Install/Register.
Note: DLL WILL NOT INSTALL UNLESS COMPONENTS AND GENERICMODELS PLUG-INS ARE INSTALLED!!!

IF YOU CANNOT INSTALL IT ON A RIGHT CLICK GO TO "C:\Windows\System32" and drag the VS910.dll on "regsvr32" and it should install.

    a. Make sure you install it properly
    b. REBOOT!!

    11. Run "LGNPST"

    12. Plug in your phone, use Internet Connection Mode, and enable USB Debugging.

    13. Phone should pop up in the list

    14. Select the phone and click on the Open folder button inside the .BIN query underneath the COM## details.

    15. Since it wants a .bin file, you can open the .TOT file by typing "*.*" inside the File Name query and hitting Enter

    16. Select "VS910ZV4_04.S4_04.P58008.R5.user.tot" and Click OK

    17. Then click on Upgrade

    18. Wait a few minutes

    19. Voila

If you're having trouble getting the vs910.dll to install and keep getting the "Windows7 RegSvr32 Error 0x80020009" message then try this:

Start (Win Key) > type uac > ENTER
Pull slider down to Never notify > OK
    Restart computer
    try installing vs910.dll again

just make sure you go back and put the slider where it was after you are done upgrading the software on your phone. This worked for me and I'm running windows 7 64bit.

I have uploaded the tot's to box.com and my webserver in zip saving around 300 mb. I figured people with limited bandwidth would probably enjoy this more seeing as it will save time and bandwidth.

    Downloads - Box.com (zip files):
    ZV4
    ZV6
    ZV7
    ZV8
    Enjoy
