I think for a period they allowed open registration for betas. It could still be open to everybody Im not sure. I was able to register and I have not bought it YET. Once it come out of this beta cycle I plan on picking it up. I was using touchpal for a bit, liked it but swype let me be lazy. I actually like having to pay attention moreso now. It also stops me from TWD.

I have never been a big fan of swype. Installed this about 10 minutes ago. Very nice
