Is black the new white?
I don't know if this applies to anyone else, but a few years ago I got sick of all phones (sans the odd special edition pink) phones being black, all my phones after the trend of nokia x-press on covers had vanished and semi-smart phones had begun to appear, all phones were generally black (except the n95 which was silver, but I ended up with the upgraded black version), and I had a plethora of black phones, and I remember, as an iphone 3gs owner (the white one was HORRIBLE imo, with a black front) when the white iPhone 4 was released, and it looked so beautiful at the time, when white phones were rare, and I think the delay on it also made white more desirable (in iPhones and in general in the mobile world) and I remember drooling over it...
FFW a couple of years and I needed to get a new phone after my HTC HD7 (BRILLIANT phone, even to this day, my brother has one still and apart from terrible battery and camera, has no reason to upgrade) got hit by a wave on a Mexican beach, and I bought myself a white Galaxy S3 when I got back to the UK, and it was stunning.
After the wow factor of owning a white phone (and then also a white tablet in the form of a 3rd gen iPad - screw apple for unexpectedly bringing out the 4th just after), in a sea of white phones (and then blue for some reason, thanks to the success of the S3 which wasn't initially available in black), mainly due to the white iPhone 4/4s and finding that I saw fewer and fewer flagship phones in black, and since my s3 stopped working properly and I changed it for a Nexus 4, so beautiful, I've really noticed that now I see black phones as much more timeless-stylish, more professional and sophisticated, while white look like an accessory rather than a serious device.
Right now white phones seem to be the most commonly used, while many other colours are now popular (I think that besides the Blue Lumias and the silver HTC One, phones of other colours look awful and cheap) , but the black versions of the model seem to attract my eye again, the black Note 3 looks amazing, while the white looks like a fun toy that you wouldn't pull out in a meeting. In my opinion anyway.
What do you think?
