Check driver installation and version of adb on pc. You need adb working to upload whatever you need to flash on your tablet if it bootloops

Put the zip in sdcard directory, reboot to cwm, make a full backup just in case, select option to flash from zip in sdcard, choose the zip and flash. If after reboot remains stuck on the X then reboot cwm and either retry flash or restore system backup.

Same for me, thanks!

Sounds great.........Noob dumb-a$$ question...........

Can you please give step-by-step instructions on just HOW one does this ?

I downloaded the ZIP file, but just HOW does one use it ?

FWIW, I have successfully rooted my N7 using the WugFresh toolkit (so good I donated :) ) and used the CWM custom recovery option.

While I was there I used Wugs toolkit to update to 4.2.2

Thanks in advance.

Save the zip on your sdcard, boot into recovery, select file from sdcard and flash. Clear cache and dalvic.

Hi, I am a newbie of android.

I have 4.2.2 unlocked and rooted with Google Nexus 7 ToolKit 4.3.4.

I tried to "Install zip files to device via sideload". I used "Use Stock recovery to sideload zip files" and the zip file was transfered to the device correctly from the PC side (100%).

But on the android side, I got messages:
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
verifying update package...
Installation aborted....

What is wrong?

For those having issues with boot looping after installing framework-res.apk, I followed the instructions from here, and it worked for me. These are the steps I did:

1. Recompile the framework-res.apk or use the one provided earlier in this thread.
2. Unzip the recompiled framework-res.apk
3. Unzip the original framework-res.apk
4. Copy AndroidManifest.xml and META-INF from the old framework-res to the new one
5. Rezip the new framework-res.apk
6. Follow the same steps previously for putting the framework-res.apk file on the device.

Hope this helps someone!

Hi,

First of all, thanks for your development..

I flashed tethering mod 4.2.2 (I've to make it twice, second one after flashing stock).

Now I've tethering options, i turn it on, clients associates, but no exit to internet, only local.

I can ping to Nexus succesfully, but no far away. I tried directly ping to 8.8.8.8 passing the dns server. No success!!

Seems to be as a firewall problem. (there is a something like firewall on the N7?)

Anyone like me?

Thanks again

    PLEASE USE WITH CAUTION AND ONLY IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. I WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR BRICKED DEVICES.

    You may have noticed that the Nexus 7 3G does not have the tethering options enabled by default.

    I couldn't live with that (that was partially the point why I got the 3G version), so have patched the framework to enable those options. Partial credits go to PaulOBrien@MoDaCo who has fixed the apktool for Android 4.2 .

    To get it to work just flash the ZIP below. It will only work on the JOP40D and JOP40C releases, and obviously only if you have a 3G device. Please do not try it on the WiFi-only Nexus 7 :) .

    Please note that it doesn't do a backup of the original framework-res.apk, so you can either make one yourself, or you can reflash the factory system image if you want to go back to stock later.

    Hi i just pulled the file decompressed it and it works for me i will aditionally put a small guide here:

    after pulling framework-res.apk and decompiling modify the following lines in /res/values/arrays.xml

    <array name="config_tether_usb_regexs" />
    <array name="config_tether_wifi_regexs" />
    <array name="config_tether_wimax_regexs" />
    <array name="config_tether_bluetooth_regexs" />
    <array name="config_tether_dhcp_range" />
    <array name="config_mobile_hotspot_provision_app" />
    <array name="config_tether_upstream_types" />

    to

    <string-array name="config_tether_usb_regexs">

rndis\\d

    </string-array>
    <string-array name="config_tether_wifi_regexs">

wlan\\d

    </string-array>
    <array name="config_tether_wimax_regexs" />
    <string-array name="config_tether_bluetooth_regexs">

bnep\\d

    </string-array>
    <array name="config_tether_dhcp_range" />
    <array name="config_mobile_hotspot_provision_app" />
    <integer-array name="config_tether_upstream_types">

0

1

5

7

    </integer-array>

    recompile the framework-res.apk sign it and u are ready to go.

    Here are the links for the stock framework and the tether mod:

    Stock Framework 4.3
    Tether enabled

    U can flash them with sideload and i recommend a cache wipe after it.
