GUIDE: Acess Windows Shares and mount them directly in your filesystem

Hi guys,

don't know if you are already aware of a nice little feature of your Z2.

The feature is called "Remote Shares" (Remote Freigabe in German) and is to be found in the Settings Menu --> Storage --> at the very bottom. so it is kinda hidden.
With this feature u can acess Windows shares and integrate them into your linux filesystem.
The description of every field is at least in German quite dumb so u have to kinda guess what it means.
So first you click on the "plus" symbol and select Windows Share.
First field (German Anzeigename) u type in a name for the folder, under which u will be able to access the remote share (/storage/remote/"yourfoldername").
2nd field (German Host) u type in the (local) IP-adress of the PC, where the share is, you want to integrate.
3rd field (German Name freigeben) is the specific share folder on that PC
4th field (German Benutzername) is the user name of the Windows PC with which u log on there
5th field (German Kennwort) is the password which u use with the user name.

Works great over Wifi.

Great find! This is so much faster and more reliable than Wireless Media Transfer!!

I'll add the English details of the fields

In English the boxes are as follows: -

Display name
This is the name that the folder will be called on your phone

Host
Either the name of your computer or it's IP address

Share name
This is the name of the share on your computer, so if you shared a folder called "Videos" you would type in Videos.

Username
The username of your PC

Password
The password associated with the above username on your PC

There are advanced options too such as if you want to use a domain name associated with specific networks (such as a work network).
