This watch is now the greatest toy ever. I've got it up and running ClearDroid ROM, used Tine's Link2SD setup, and now I even have the joy of being able to use Slingplayer on my wrist. Thanks to not setting ADW as my default launcher, I can even switch back into Moto's Motoactv launcher (although things look a little off-center).

In terms of setting up Google apps, though, especially Google Music (Play Music, whatever), can I just flash the gapps zip through recovery? I'm rocking the Amazon Appstore for now, but I want my Google Music.

Negative, do NOT flash gapps zip. It will cause lots and lots of force closes. If you want to try one of the apps, pull the apk from the zip and install it with jay's easy modder tool. :)

Right on. So for Google Music specifically, what is required? I feel like in order to sync my online music, I'd need more than just the Google Music apk. Any idea what else I'd need? I'm guessing Google Services, but I'm not all that sure.

googleservicesframework.apk will force close. Over and over and over again. As for syncing your music, motocast might be the way to go. It'll sync from itunes and the computer, I believe. :)

Working on a new rom right now, utkanos is helping a lot. There seems to be an issue with either app data or cache not clearing properly...

Update: Was probably a binary issue. Making progress.

how to roll back to be unrooted and get upgrade?

Hi all,

I rooted motoActv for several days and found that it can't update. This bothers me so much and I may want to get it unrooted. It seems we can't do it. Any idea on this topic?

In the meanwhile, I tried to install the Recovery but still don't have 4.55.97 binary to flash. If we can upgrade manually, that's still fine.

I swear, this gets answered twice every day.

NEW PEOPLE, PLEASE READ THE LAST 5 PAGES AT LEAST!

Or, read the wiki at http://motoactv.wikispaces.com/!

Straight from the wiki:

"Note 2: For the time being, if you root your MotoACTV you will not be able to further upgrade it to the latest or any coming stock firmware, you will get the unknown serial number error."

I'm not trying to sound mean, but we get tired of answering this question so many times.

There is *NO* way to return to stock fully, to be able to update. Using the "Return to Stock" button on the root tool works to return to stock, but you still won't be able to update. We are working on roms that have the latest updates patched in manually.

Edit: Just added a FAQ to the wiki. :)

5.0 in the works? Once again if you need any files off mine when I get it let me know and I'll be happy to provide whatever I can. It won't be at my house until Wednesday.

I have just installed slingplayer but cannot find the accept button on the licence agreement page, did you have to do somthing for it to showup, or could it be my .apk file?

My LCD density was set to 95 at the time, so that might be why I saw the button. If you don't have it, install LCD density and try adjusting it down to 95. I noticed, for example, that now that I've got it set to 120, some buttons aren't accessible, like the numbers 4 and 8, so that might be the issue you're having.

From reading this thread, I belive that internet is avalible to the watch via bluetooth only on motrola phones and the motoactiv app.
I have a (unrooted) atrix and have the motoactv app on my phone but cannot get internet access.
Am I missing a setting somewhere? The watch will connect fine via wifi on my home network.
Re youtube, I cannot search for anything It forces close, but the list of films work fine.
Also where do you guys get your .apk files from, Im looking for the facebook widget but cannot find it, could we perhaps have a page of links?

Most of us just pull from our phones lol. Use root explorer and copy the /data/app folder to your sd card and all your downloaded apps will be in it.

5.6.0

Well, by chance I happened to grab the newest update.zip OTA (about 5 minutes ago, so I don't know all the changes yet). However, I saw that mbm.bin is once again within there, so I would highly suggest not updating. I don't know why Motorola is updating it twice in two releases, but it doesn't sit well with me. Just putting it out there for the time being.

The 5.6.0 release is safe, you can still root it.

There's a modified boot.img over on http://dl.opticaldelusion.org/boot-5.6.0-root.img that gives root access via adb.

root tool & clockwork

ClearD & Jay ,

would you happen to know the likelyhood that the 5.6.0 release and the rooted boot image would work with the root tool and so on once updated? i don't want to update to 5.6.0 from 55.78 unless it has a chance of working, i haven't rooted yet but i am considering it if i can still keep the same dual-use functionality as the 55.78 rooting method.

Root tool uses the boot image from 4.55.78 insecured, the only change you would need to do would be to flash that 5.6.0 insecured boot image above (through fastboot; fastboot flash boot boot.img), then hit the "root button" and the rest will be the same, and will all work. :)

Many thanks ClearD, i will update(I'm guessing still possible after official update? ) , check out the improvements and now with that img, when i have the opportunity to actually root, thanks to yours and jay's hard work, the path is there. The lack of moto's vision to take this device to it's potential is weak.
Thanks again.

If you do update, I'd like to ask a favor lol. Images to build from. :) I'm still working with 4.55.78, I feel like I'm in the stone age.

    CWMR ported

    Hello,

I have ported CWMR 5.0.2.7 to the Motoactv (F100) device.

    actvcmwr.png

    Code:
    #include <std_disclaimer.h>
    /*
    * Your warranty is now void.
    *
    * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
    * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
    * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
    * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
    * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
    */

The procedure for this is as follows. You MUST have working adb knowledge to use this and you must be able to restore using the available tool should any problems arise. This is considered an ALPHA release that may need additional work. I did not have access to the device during the port so all testing was done through TheEndGame7. THERE MAY BE ISSUES, you are warned.

    1) Download this file: CWMR5x_F100_recoveryA.img
    2) adb push CWMR5x_F100_recoveryA.img /data/local/
    3) adb shell (become root)
    4) dd if=/data/local/CWMR5x_F100_recoveryA.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk1p13
    5) exit adb from the device
    6) adb reboot recovery (you should be in CWMR now)

The source for the device config is here. Please feel free to go wild with development on this because I do not have the device and likely won't be contributing much more except bug fixes. If you use this source, please give credit where it's due.

NOTE: there are missing images(known). This is because the ramdisk is EXTREMELY finicky on this device and it WILL NOT BOOT past 3.66mb in size. I trimmed out things that weren't needed in order to make this work. The basic functionality you need should be there. adb is also not functioning properly yet within recovery.

    MotoACTV Easy Modder v0.1

    Post removed, see below.

Well, it was a *****, but here is build 2, moving to Beta at this point in 'Moto red' by request of TEG.

    ayu6vRFV

There is 1 lingering issue: usb support in recovery. It is a bastard, going to really have to tear this thing apart to debug why. Right now, recovery can backup, restore, wipe, flash roms, etc. All the stuff you're used to working, now does. I fixed images by shrinking the kernel to fit more stuff in here. You should no longer get any weird image errors. I bumped you up to 5.0.2.8 source as well.

Flash this file the same as before via adb and dd.
    CWMR5x_F100_recoveryB.img

    adb push CWMR5x_F100_recoveryB.img /data/local/
    adb shell
    # dd if=/data/local/CWMR5x_F100_recoveryB.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk1p13
    # exit
    adb reboot recovery

Some additional notes I'd like to share that might help you as you mess with this device now that I've played with one.

    1) NEVER use adb reboot bootloader for any reason. You get stuck in a ****tily programmed loop of hell. The way out of this loop is by following these instructions:

    a) hold START, POWER, VOL UP, VOL DOWN together for 10 seconds at least. You should see the screen flicker on and off twice.
    b) plug in the USB cable to turn device on
    c) you should boot back to rom, if not, do it again. It's touchy.

    2) The 'soft' reset is done by START + POWER for 5 seconds.

Enjoy. Source is updated. This will likely be the last update unless I get adb working.

Attached is the latest copy of my MotoACTV Easy Modder v1.0. This is a MAJOR upgrade! Adds numerous features and completely revises how backups are stored on the computer. Need to use 7zip to extract it, wouldn't let me upload that big of a .zip file.

To make this version see your old backups, open your IMGs folder, make a new folder (no spaces), drag all your old .img files into it.

Working on an All-in-One batch file with an easy to use menu to try and make the alleviate some problems people are having so that the IRC can be used more for development progress and creative ideas rather than support.

    - Install Launcher (Honeycomb and Zeam)
