Hi all -

I haven't rooted or changed roms on a phone in a long while, but used to be somewhat active in all the forums a few years back and consider myself as someone who generally understands this stuff at least on a procedural basis.

I have a DROID RAZR XT912 with Verizon Wireless... I successfully obtained root access tonight using the instructions and files in this post: http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2230140 - All worked great once i figured out to turn off Mass Storage Mode.

Next i wanted to install another ROM... Either CM10/11 or SlimKat. To do so, I know I needed to install a custom recovery. I downloaded Rom Manager and found out that CWM wouldn't install on the RAZR. So i found this post and followed it: http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1751826 - everything seemed to install just perfectly... I was got to the step to run a backup, did that and then rebooted. Upon reboot, i now get a message stating: Encryption Unsuccessful along with a long message about encryption failing and needing to perform a factory reset. I click that and the reset doesn't work. When i got to manually get to the recovery partition, i get a picture of Android on his back with a red exclamation in his belly.

I found this page and wondering if this is what i really need: http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1391900 ????

It really bugs me that there's not just one post to walk you through the essentials needed for this device. everything seems so spread out and you never really know what works until it doesn't.

Is there any kind of fix for this error???? not sure what my options are at this point.

Thanks for any help in advance!

Since you have a xt912 you can use this. Make sure to give Matlgrof a thanks.

Then, yes you will want to use Hashcode's Safestrap
