The next release will have it fixed, I submitted it to CM Gerrit so hopefully it will make it to main cm7 git.

This person did?
Who? You or him?
Curious, because i want to design my own personal copy, just for me. And am gathering info
Also: video record.
There are "two" aosp development gurus here.
What the real issue with video record? How come neither you nor dizgustipated, hell or mmission worked on it? Given any news at all?
You have had this multiple dev unofficial port out forever.
No progress on video record? Any info at all?
Can you put us in touch with the people who did most of your port?
(Its okay, we know you didn't port this without a team, everyone needs help)
I would ask diz, but I see his/her computer is down
since this is directly related to sgt7, and needs to be dealt with downstream first.
I know nothing about it, but hope to learn, and maybe someday help
My mom did not call me Technomancer. LOL.
I have a name, and I guess you just outed me ;-) Additional points for finding other opensource projects I have contributed to ;-)
The video recording issue is rather weird, in short, the framework asks the camera driver (libseccamera.so) to set video resolution. The camera driver says OK and doesnt change the recording resolution. A little bit later the framework asks the camera what the current resolution is, gets told that it is something else it has expected and throws and exception and recording gets aborted.
The interface between framework and camera is a function call passing bunch of concatenated strings with parameters. So maybe libseccamera is unhappy with some of them? There is now a camera wrapper in aries-common so maybe I can try using it to do some more debugging and modifying params going to the camera.
Seeing as only one app is giving us video record, videocam illusions, as someone originally pointed out in an early Boca thread
is it possible to somehow mash these together,or take code/resolution commands from that app and apply it to the cm7 stock camera or wherever it needs to go?
Or am I way off base here?
How did the sgs fix theirs?
Shouldn't the same basic idea work here, as its our sister device?
this record issue is a drag
No sorry to say there is nothing free yet that I can see that does has the issue.
You explained Sideloading - how is that possible? I have been trying to figure out a way to download the apk files for a while now but haven't been able to figure this out.
I do believe it was an original limitation of the partition on the samsung phones - however - I believe this must have been resolved in Galaxy Tab since I could download them fine originally. Didn't check - so can't be 100% sure - and still waiting for my friend to let me root his phone
I'll look at it this weekend. It was never a prority for me since I am one of these dSLR hipsters that consider cameras in cell phones not worth using (and I carry around my NEX5 in the bag).
Yep, I only use my SGS and SGT to show off what I do with my Canon 1D Mk II.
wooo

Pity I don't see SGS-P1000 on that list of new devices :-/
It can't use any special hacks outside device directory, I have to submit everything via Gerrit and I probably need to talk to the right people, but I don't really know them.
I have submitted my first patch via Gerrit several days ago if it gets approved I will start sending more.

hi all,
could somebody help me out please? I just can't install the ROM. I'm using Heimdall Frontend 1.3.0; downloaded the tcm7beta-2011-08-07.zip; extracted this .zip file; phone is detected by Heimdall in download mode; loaded the factoryfs.ext4 under "Load package", but after extraction finished, I'm getting this error message: "firmware.xml" is missing from the package.
I've downloaded and extracted the tcm7beta-2011-08-07.zip again but I'm getting the same error message. start button in Heimdall is not active, can't flash...
when I'm trying to load zImage, I'm getting this error from Heimdall: "Tar header contained an invalid file size."
what am I doing wrong? why it's not working for me? please help me.
thank you.
