the tool is great - great work making it nice and simple for the not so savy tech users :D ---- however...why doesn't the tool ever detect that I have Kies installed, and I have the USB drivers installed, etc...Everytime I load it no matter what it says I don't have the files installed, and tries to download them and install them over and over and over again....anyone else experience this? Windows 7...? of course I've done the obvious stuff (re-installing everything, kies, usb drivers, toolkit, etc.) but nada :|

I'll look in to it, what version of windows are you on?

@ajster1989, I was told from an Admin that this link to help people out while using your program too is o.k so just wanted to post this awesome link that works on both Telus & TMobile so here it is folks and follow this to a 'T' as well as this program (Samsung Tool Kit) cuz I just wanted to make it easier in 10mins or less to be rooted and ready to run with your SGS2:

I got everything installed using Parallels on my mac (using a W7 image) and it went through the start up process with downloading all of the drivers and such, but it sits at the "Waiting for Device" screen and doesn't go past this. I have my phone plugged in and Windows recognizes the device but not the tool kit. I've tried it with both USB debugging on/off but doesn't seem to make a difference. Any suggestions to make it recognize the device? My GS2 is currently stock.

I have heard of issues with using parallels because the Unix emulating and sharing with a Windows USB Hub service not all devices always work inside parallels. I would try maybe downloading the most up to date USB Driver from Samsung Website, and Rebooting the phone before connecting it. If that still doesn't work then you should look into installing windows with Boot Camp instead of Parallels. There is also a great program called Boot Picker that works with boot camp to make it easy to reboot into windows without having to change your setting every time.

Good Luck!

Using ADB Backup

Has anyone tried the ADB backup feature with the stock 4.0 rom, I can't get it to run and thing that it might not be included with the stock. But it works flawless on the custom roms I have tested it with. Will be adding to next toolkit.

the T-Mobile Galaxy S II Hercules is the Samsung galaxy s II from t-mobile right? because im confused why it says Hercules. Plus im on stock ICS can I still use this toolkit to root and flash a custom rom?

Last question what do you mean by "You need to delete the T989 folder to use the ICS Root Update." Do I need to delete that folder because im on stock ICS? if so do I just delete it when I connect my computer with the usb flash drive and just right click the folder and delete?

thanks i know i have so many questions but I really would like to try this!

some times you have to reboot your phone to get the debugging service to restart before it connects

NOTICE - Just wanted to let everyone know that the toolkit might not be updated for a while. Not because I am not working on it. But I am switching programming languages and improving a lot of aspects of the toolkit. Mostly because of the feedback I have gotten. I am going to be doing the toolkit in a way that will save you all a lot of hassle with installing and downloading, and the next major release will also auto update. I will however be doing bug fixes until the next release. I want to thank all of my followers and donors for the continuous feedback and support. I do this all for you.
    Thanks,

Rooting and Flashing has never been easier.

You need to delete the T989 folder to use the ICS Root Update... Just for tonight till I get a real update out tomorrow.

Here is what it can do so far:
    - At start it checks to see if USB Drivers is installed, if it's not installed will download and installs Kies for you. (This insures that your USB Drivers are correctly installed)
    - At start it checks for USB debugging connection to ADB
    - Phone selection menu to chose which SGS II phone you have, and set's tool kit up for that phone.
    - Only downloads the files for the phone you select (Currently only T989)
    - Guides you through installing CWM
    - Guides you through Rooting your device
    - Guides you through Flashing a Custom ROM
    - Guides you through Flashing back to STOCK (Auto downloads when needed)
    - Reboots Recovery and Download
    - Side Load APK's
    - Keeps track of your current phone, last flashed recovery, last flashed rom.

Want a feature that I haven't added, request it in the comments or PM me and it might be added to my next release.
Features to come in next release:
    - I will be adding support for ROMs to be flashed through ODIN.
    - I will be looking into adding a menu of different ROMs to download
    - I will be adding Super.Wipe Script, will be pushed with all ROMs. (Waiting for Dev Permission)
    - I will be adding also the counter reset script as an option.

Please let me know of any bugs.
    Known Bug's so far:

    -none (let's find some)

The more feedback I get the quicker I will have a better version, will be adding support for the rest of the family of SGS II's too.

For anyone having troubles using this method

I created a post in Q&A for this, but if anyone is having problems, read this, and you should get through it and get root if you are on a non-rooted, stock ICS T989.

First off, you will need to download the Galaxy II Toolkit for the T989.
This is by ajster1989. All credit goes to him.

    DOWNLOAD HERE

    http://www.dillonpos.com/fmanager/Android/XDA/SGSIIToolkit2.4.zip

After you download and install the toolkit, you will need to connect your phone.. Then open the program. It's default path is C:\Program Files\SGSII Toolkit. After you connect your phone and run the program, click T989 as your device, and it will download the necessary files to your computer in order to do everything.

IF YOU ALREADY HAD THE TOOLKIT INSTALLED, YOU WILL NEED TO DELETE THE ORIGINAL T989 FOLDER THAT WAS INSTALLED. IT IS LOCATED AT C:\Program Files\SGSII Toolkit\Devices. WHEN THAT IS DELETED, START THE TOOLKIT AGAIN AND IT WILL DOWNLOAD THE CORRECT ICS DATA.

After you are to the main screen, click on 'Flash Clockwork Mod HARD/TOUCH Recovery. I recommend the HARD recovery, as it is compatible with most roms.

It will then open Odin and your phone will go into download mode. Click on PDA, then go to the C:\Program Files\SGSII Toolkit directory again, click on devices, then T989, then Recoveries. Select the 'Hard' one.

Your phone will then reboot. You are not quite rooted yet.

When it is rebooted, connect your phone to USB storage, and open your External SD Card, and copy the root.zip to it. This is located in C:\Program Files\SGSII Toolkit\Devices\T989.

After that is copied, reboot the phone by holding down the power, VOLUP and VOLDOWN side buttons. Hold them all at the same time. Hold them until the phone reboots, and you go into ClockworkModRecovery.

When you are in there, use the Volume Down button to scroll to 'Install zip from sdcard', and click on the root.zip that you copied earlier. It will ask you if you are sure you want to do this, click yes. It will then install SuperUser to the system. After that is complete, click 'Reboot System Now'.

Your phone will reboot, and congratulations, you are rooted!

Just trying to help, as I had troubles at the beginning.

    Good day all!
