Beware of USB cable and charger
I thought I had a bad ROM, but apparently it was a bad cable. And it seems as though the geniune cable does a "bit" more.
I didn't even think there would be a difference in between my Samsung Galaxy S3 cable and the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 cable, but there is.
I've been using an app call Galaxy Current Lite
to see why it's been taking 8 hours to charge from 4%-100%. I have used the original charger cable that came with my Note 8.0 as well as the original set that came with my SGS3. Both yield the same result. Galaxy Current Lite showed max 500ma was going through.
After being frustrated I took my Note 8.0 to a store with another Note 8.0 store display, plugged it in and check it with Galaxy Current app... load and behold it was getting 1800ma.
So apparently the cable does make a difference. So I went to buy the geniune Samsung travel kit, while I deal with warranty replacement from Samsung tomorrow. I also found out that using a cable that is for Note 8.0 via my SGS3 or Apple AC to USB also gave a 1100ma and 900ma respectively.
So if you are having issues SLOW charging... grab the app and check. It could be the cable. And if it is... DO NOT GET A GENERIC. I tried a generic charging ONLY cable with the original Samsung charger it yield 468ma
Hope this will help others
