[Q] How to flash custom roms?

I was going to try custom Roms but i don't understand how this bootstrapping works. So I bootstrap recovery and install Rom Manger and CWR but from there is there anything special i need to do before i flash a custom rom? After i did those steps i got a lot of force closes on miui, tried to flash CM9 over miui and that messed it up it ,seams some stuff from miui was left over even thoou i did wipe data/factory reset. Do i need to bootstrap every time i flash another Rom or idk?

all bootstrap does is get you to cwm
if you can get to clockworkmod bootstrap did it's job
what system version are you using?
4.5.629, most roms are not going to work with that yet

please help me,I am on 4.5.608 and my battery drains so fast,like from 100% to 70% in just 15 mins only by browsing an internet with a 2g network on opera mini,i have to charge my phone alot,so will custom ROM help me??,if yes,please tell me what cROM is compitable for my system version,i wud prefer ICS ROM's....

And will my turbo sim have problems after using a custom ROM??

I don't think this is correct—any ROM that works after flashing over 4.5.608 should still work flashed over 4.5.629.
