I guess it is a hardware issue... just don't get how can it affect both media playback AND all audio

Audio driver. Or whatever chip is responsible for audio. Have you tried reflashing ALL images? Find a "battery improvement" thread and follow instructions in post no 2 to the tee.

Thanks... just finished going through that post and no change. no sound anywhere and media playback is fast (looking at youtube it looks like its playing 2 seconds for everyone 1)

I guess attempt to send back to google? I bought this in Decemeber... still under warranty right?
