It's awesome to see the render effect available, but I have to ask, are there any negatives to using it? I have some burn in on my nexus one already so I'm a bit cautious.

Great rom overall! Very pleased!

I thought Froyo was supposed to have better data disabling abilities?

I see the option to disable it under Mobile Network Settings,

But if I've been on a wifi network since boot, re-enabling mobile data doesn't work.

Can anybody confirm this?

1. Disable mobile data
2. Connect to and use a wifi network
3. Disable wifi and re-enable mobile data.

For me, the mobile data will not reconnect until I reboot, which is the same as happened in Eclair when I disabled mobile data with the APN renaming apps like APNdroid.

Hi,
Actually i keep my MOBILE DATA enabled.
Then i tried this and wifi and mobile data both work, tried all combinations....
Switch Wifi -on
Switch Wifi - off
Automatically mobile data comes on
Switch wifi - on
Automatically mobile data goes off

don't know how this will help... but for your info i don't use APNdroid.
I just made my apn in the MOBILE NETWORKS setting, so it selects
Mobile Data whenever there is no Wifi.
Also if i don't need Mobile Data (in absence of Wifi) i have created
a dummy APN and i put that on.

This would be such a great ROM, but ADW-Launcher, for me, sucks... I hate it... the Stock Froyo Launcher is great, why replace it?

Isn't it possible to give us the choice and bring out 2 Versions of CM-6, one with ADW and one with the Stock-Launcher?

Get LauncherPro and use root explorer to force-uninstall ADW?
ADW's used cause it's open source or sthg like that.. don't see how that makes up for the unacceptable lag (LhrPro is DAMN smooth) though :-/

Obviously something is wrong with your phone.. cause ADW couldn't be smoother here.

So, is it Autokiller that is causing the phone CM6 to take FOREVER to gain root access or is it Superuser? You comment caught my eye because so many people have been having this issue. I noticed that when I rebooted my, I clicked Autokiller, selected the ok button and selected a preset and ALL OF MY APPS were granted SU permissions. Bam, just like that.

Superuser 2.2.2 is having problems setting SU rights on apps which autostart at boot (like AutoKiller, SetCPU, Ti Backup), this is a known problem, Superuser 2.1 doesn't have this issue.

Thanks greg.

I don't use APNdroid anymore either. I used it on CM5 (Eclair) because it was the only way to disable data. But all it does is rename your APN to be invalid.

Now in Froyo there's an option to disable data properly, but for me it won't re-enable after I've been on wifi, unless I reboot the phone. That's the same behavior it had in Eclair when I disabled it by renaming the APN. I expected better things from Froyo's official support of it.

I need a data disabler because I don't have an unlimited data plan, so I can't leave it on and just let the wifi overrule it like you do.

Go into Setting > CyanogenMod Settings > Performance Settings and change VM heap size to 24 then reboot.

No more force closes or weirdness from LauncherPro. Might help ADW too but I don't use it so don't know.

CyanogenMod is a free, community built distribution of Android 2.2 (Froyo) which greatly extends the capabilities of your phone.

    Code:
    #include <std_disclaimer.h>
    /*
     * Your warranty is now void.
     *
     * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
     * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
     * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
     * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
     * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
     */

This is an AOSP-based build with extra contributions from many people which you can use without any type of Google applications. I found a link from some other project that can be used to restore the Google parts, which can be found below or elsewhere in the thread. I've still included the various hardware-specific code, which seems to be slowly being open-sourced anyway.

Visit the CHANGELOG for a full list of changes and features!

All source code is available at the CyanogenMod Github! Send pull requests with your changes!

    INSTRUCTIONS:
    - First time flashing CM 6 to your Nexus (or coming from another ROM)?
    1. Unlock/root your device and install Clockwork Recovery via ROM Manager or Amon_RA's recovery image
    2. Do a Nandroid backup!
    3. Update your radio if necessary
    4. WIPE
    5. Install the ROM
    5. Optionally install the Google Addon

    - Upgrading from earlier CM6?
    1. Do a Nandroid Backup!
    2. Install the ROM (your Google apps will be backed up automatically)

HOW TO REPORT BUGS OR PROBLEMS?
    - Was it a hard reboot? Get me the file "/proc/last_kmsg".
    - Was it a soft reboot or a "boot loop"? Run "adb logcat" and get me the full output.
    - Pastebin links preferred
    - Please use the issue tracker whenever possible!

Please visit the CyanogenMod Wiki for step-by-step installation walkthroughs and tons of other useful information.

The preferred method of installation is via ROM Manager, or you can head over to the CM Forums for manual downloads.

Thank you to EVERYONE involved in helping with testing, coding, debugging and documenting! Enjoy!

Google Maps 5.0 Rotation for Cm 6.1.1

so anybody tried Google Maps rotation on Cm 6.1.1 yet ?

    Edit:

    - in ../system/etc/permissions/..
    - exchange "android.hardware.touchscreen.multitouch.xml" with "android.hardware.touchscreen.multitouch.distinct.xml" (perm 644)
    - reboot
    2
Did you remember to change the permission of the new file to 644?

I keep getting OTA notifications about 2.3.3. Is it possible for me to canx the notifications for good?

    It's for cm7 but I can't imagine it's that different.

Anyone have trouble using the sms unlock swipe from the unlock screen? Phone, unlock and sound seem to be working but not SMS. I am using Launcher Pro, not ADW.

You have to set it to a particular program. Go to cyanogen mod settings > input settings > make sure phone and messaging is checked > then set messaging tab application. If you don't see your program on the initial list, choose applications, and it'll show you all your installed apps. I set mine to go straight to google voice.

    Good luck.
