Dear Friends ,


The Xolo Q800 has now been downgraded from the MT6589 chipset to a MT6589W-M chipset.


1. Could someone having a phone with the new MT6589W-M chipset please post its Nenamark2 and other benchmark scores?

2. All the Q800 ROMs here at xda are for the MT6589 phones. Can they be used with the MT6589W-M phones?

Just bought this today. Mine has MT6589W-M chipset.

Quadrant: 3686
Nenamark 2: 49.2 fps

Hi Sandeep,

Thank you for doing that.

The previous MT6589 used to do 53 in neenamark2 and around 3800 in quadrant. Which means there is hardly any downgrade.

And congrats. Its a fantastic phone for the price. . I too might be buying it in the next few days.

Do you happen to know how to check whether 1080p recording is supported?
I can see settings like low, medium, high and fine. When fine is selected it recorded in 720p only.

Sandeep, unfortunately, thats the only downside to this new chipset. But they have not downgraded the camera, so the quality of the 720p video will be good.

Quality is not just about the resolution. A good quality sensor is the biggest difference, and the Q800 has a relatively good one.

To record 1080P video on 6589M - Use lgCamera from the market and select 1080P video

LG camera though it shows 1080p recording, the real video recorded is only 720p, I checked it

you are right, tried it on w100 and same result, so its real 6589M.
but i have found other devices with 960*540 screen that can shoot 1080P in lgcamera and etc, the AMOI n828 also shoots 1080P
so some use 6589 on 960*540 and some use 6589M.

Hi,I have a Xolo q800 with mt6589w-m chip set.All I want to do is to root my device and try a ROM.Anyone can help me with this ?As all rooting methods out there are for older chip set,I just need the guidance of an experienced user.Thank you.

OK never mind my above posts ,I rooted my device,installed custom recovery and flashed a 4.2.2 based ROM.
Now I can confirm that the process and even the files used for previous chip set works fine with the current chip set too.Thank you.
