Okay , we all know Elephone pushing new phones very fast (within month). So they are just unable to keep support going after market launch.
So what did u expect on update supports
Other vendors aren't different, but at least most of them still post 1-2 stable firmwares until the phone gets abandoned

Is 3.10 kernel source in anyway available/leaked for MT6589 ? Even older MT6577 devices got this source and we have not. Anybody succeeded in building CM12 on KK 3.4.67 source ??

Fire885 has already succeeded in booting CM12.1 with Kk kernel(3.4.67) on mt6592, don't know about your SOC, but i read somewhere that on MALI gpu based SOCs , we can use 3.4.67 for booting CM12 , as mt6589 doesn't have mali, it won't boot on mt6589 with kk kernel.{My one friend tried this}.

I don't have access to a 6589 device anymore.
What exactly is missing? I'll try looking at it anyway.
Btw: can you please give us some insight to the mediatek related commits in cm frameworks/av. Cm11 does not compile with those commits applied, because it is missing headers and pre-builts.
@kashifmin managed to make Micromax A116 boot on CM12, but have a lot of non-working hardware issue to be fixed, maybe you can look into it from his thread

I may do the lollipop bringup for my mt6589 tab too.
@kashifmin booted CM12 using JB kernel but not KK kernel . What is missing in KK kernel ?? I am not able to pass logo with kk kernel. And how you got it @Santhosh M ?Why not posting it here?

What i know is that Kashifmin has kernel source so he made binder.c patch , that's why cm11 booted with 3.4.5 kernel.

In L, goggle had removed the bufferqueue constructor and the mtk blobs rely on this. I tried to revert that commit, but surfaceflinger crashed then.

For cm11, CM team has prepared to support mtk hardware but they currently can't release the rest. Appently they try to find an arrangement with mediatek to release static libraries.

81Hey guys, We are going to try something new for our china phones - cyanogenmod.
But we need some more devs to get everything going.
For now we have:
-Github tree for Lenovo P700i(mediatek 6577, android 4.0.4, kernel 3.0.8)
-Lens_flare - original port author(may work with system folder and configs)
-some kernel source from other devices like liquid gallant
The main problem is getting adb to work that could help a lot on remaining development. For now even zygote not starting, but all partitions seems mounted successfully.
We need more devs (especially that could assemble working kernel for device), working with p700i may lead to following porting for other mtk devices, as sources are nearly the same.40Lollipop on MT6577

Just to let you know, that lollipop is now booting on ZTE v970 [MT6577- w/ ComBo-Chip MT6620]
With my custom 3.4.67 KK Kernel + some cherry-picks from the new MTK 3.10.54 LL Kernel
Still very early, baseband is recognized , but still needs a lot more work on Telephony, Platform, etc.
