The MobileAP is now up and running on the Vibrant, Captivate & Orange i9000. Still trying to work out what is going on with the Epic version.Just flash the folowing through recovery. You access the MobileAP in Settings>Wireless and network>Mobile AP Settings.

**Captivate users please make sure you are using a custom kernel that supports this.

**Vibrant users just need to flash and you are good.

**Epic users just flash the update.zip. it appears all previous issues have been resolved. thanks to Firon for the ammends needed!

THIS NEEDS TO BE FLASHED WITH CLOCKWORKMOD RECOVERY! THIS WILL NOT WORK WITH AN AOSP ROM. THE 1st BOOT WILL TAKE A WHILE BECAUSE OF THE DEXOPT. DON"T FREAK OUT!

Use the one for your phone from below!

not looking good so far...it took forever to boot, and had a problem loading the power widget. When I deleted it, and tried to re-add, I got a force close after choosing to add android widget. I'm rebooting now...

yeah, still doesn't work. I also can't load up the WAP...just goes to a blank screen. Samsung widgets seem to work ok.

I do have the lag hack installed. That may be an issue, not sure.

Well, I did the same thing I've done before - named the file "update", left the zip extension, rebooted and told it to restore packages.....

What am I doing wrong?

"**Vibrant users just need to flash and you are good."

I am new to Androids and took some time to figure out what to do before I tried this on my U.S. Galaxy S Vibrant. It failed and I am not certain why, though this is not uncommon common to my long experience of Linux (manual-writing requires different skills). The following is what I determined I had to do, and did:

    1. I rooted the phone using "SGH-959 Root Update.zip" and associated directions - I now have a "Superuser Permission" app but it's not clear to me what it does -- I mean, if it gave me a terminal window I would understand.

    2. I installed ROM Manager and executed "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery." It now reports current Recovery as ClockworkMod 2.5.1.2

    3. I downloaded "signed-mobileap.vibrant.T959UVJI6.v2.zip" to my computer (Xubuntu) and renamed (a copy of it) to "update.zip."

    4. I connected the phone in USB mode and copied "update.zip" to the phone root (not the microSD card root where I'd earlier placed other files, independent of phone, via USB card reader).

    5. I disconnected the phone from the computer, waited for "cards" to remount local to phone, brought up ROM Manager, and selected "Boot into Recovery."

    6. Once in recovery mode I selected "reinstall packages." There it started into the installation process and returned a message (in red) "installation aborted."

Settings - About Phone - Baseband version reports: T959UVJI6

What have I done wrong?

Don't rename it just flash via cwm .
Boot into cwm and select "install zip from sdcard" then select "choose zip from sdcard" . Then select and flash the file.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
