This trick didn't work for me (and Notach Xposed only creates a menu driven shortcut to the same settings screen.)

There is no /sys/devices/virtual/torch/torch/torch_ctl or /sys/devices/virtual/torch/ for that matter.
Can you zip up yours and I'll paste it in?

I am using the VZW S4. btw

Tried on my Verizon S4 running Hyperdrive ROM & Nova Launcher... didn't work on mine.

Not sure why it's not working for everyone. Seems to be phone specific???
Anyway..... I had forwarded the trick to Nottach and he has included it in his Xposed mod. Makes it easier for those using his mod. Simple as just clicking a button now & rebooting.

Hi guys and girls,

Another quick and simple way of doing this is by downloading

1) QuickShortcutMarker from Play Store

..and just type

2) Torch into the input keyword to filter field and press try to activate.

Please post if you have success.

My guess is the US stock rom is missing an apk to do this because I had the same problem on various stock att roms (cleanrom mdob etc) but it works on tge att rom goldeneye which is an international base.

it's not missing an apk. It has something to do with waking up. I added some of my own code to it, and it doesn't get ran so long as the device is in deep sleep. If it's plugged in it will run the code. So it's not waking from deep sleep to run the code

Google Gestures search for Torch Light finds this option for me. Non rooted 3 UK Galaxy S4

Sick development ROM, US T-MO S4, wanam xposed enabled with xposed installer, setting in wanam xposed to enable torch and this guide didnt work for me unfortunately either T_T

Hi,
I followed these steps...
after when I open the shortcut it showing "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped "
I am Using Note 4 ported Rom on GT-I9500..
any possible way to fix this..?

i looked and i don't have torch is there a way to get it so i can use this method?:confused:
im on RR Rom

    How to activate the flashlight on the lock screen.


    1. You will need to install either Nova or Apex launcher. You don't need to keep this as your launcher in the future, but just to activate this trick.

    2. Once running, press & hold an empty spot on your home screen. You will get this window, and choose 'shortcuts'

    3. Then select activities.

    4. Once this loads (can take a bit if you have many things installed), select settings.

    5. Now scroll down to Torch light and select either of the two.

    6. It will now add the shortcut to your home screen. Tap on this icon.

    7. Check the torch light option and then the time-out amount.

    You can now switch back to the launcher of your choice and have the working flashlight. Just hold the power up for a short time and it will come on or tap to volume down to turn off.

    Not sure why you guys are having problems with it, but Nottach also got it running & will include it in his next update (allowing you to map it to your home button instead of you prefer). So if you are running Xposed with his mod should be easier to setup/work.
