This wasn't very constructive.

You are suggesting the manufacturer of the crowbar is an accomplice in burglary. I am in no way encouraging the theft of mobile devices and my tool does not help thiefs change their IMEI numbers. If a thief has the ability to flash new IMEI numbers to a device then I don't think they'll need help creating an IMEI from me.

In regards to obtaining an IMEI I can tell you that in the UK you need an IMEI to obtain an activation code. I have gone through the process several times and have always been asked for an IMEI. If you search XDA you will find many cases of people being turned away because they did not have a valid IMEI number. I have helped many people obtain codes and to save my time and make life easier for the community I thought I'd do my bit and contribute this aid. If you think you can obtain codes without an IMEI then why don't you spend your time more constructively and help people on this forum because there's plenty of people who need codes.

I don't appreciate your ridiculous and suggestive comment and I'd like to raise the idea that maybe the XDA forum isn't for you.

Let me point out at this stage that if you have flashed WP7 to a device and obtained an activation code .......

Do not be angry you will always find people saying stuff that is inappropriate .. I do understand what jinge said but that is totally out of place and not required and you are completely correct in making your stand loud and clear .. but i suggest that you change the comment a bit as we all consider ourselves as ethical hackers and not exactly thieves ..(Yes i have flashed WP7 and activated) ..but just know that i am with you .. Jinge should not try to become Moral police suddenly and when its a grey area ...people should not try to put these in black and white..

You said it better than I did. Sorry, I let my temper take over for a moment, reading that back I see exactly where you're coming from - comment amended. My point was simply that just because few use something for bad, shouldn't mean that we should not have access to that something for 'good', and by creating that something, you shouldn't be associated with the bad guys. Wish MS could also be that generous in providing with at least updates to their old users if not extensively open codes.

Thanks, that's no problem at all, glad to hear you got your code. That's funny they gave you a code for the HD2 IMEI!

I guess we have to remember that MS are not enthusiasts of their product, but salesmen $$$$$$$$$$

Is this legal? I thought anything to do with IMEI generating and flashing to phone hardware is supposedly illegal .....

No one is flashing an IMEI to the phone.. this is not an imei flashing tool ..this is Just to help people who need this.. gosh how many times the same things need to be repeated on the same page..

Thank you very very much for this great tool which helped me activate my HD2.
The customer support in Sweden had to have my IMEI so I tried your software and it worked.
I am very happy now!
