Rooting the Galaxy S Relay 4G - a correction
Hello to the Relay community! Since I'm too new to post in the relevant thread
, I'll have to post this here. There is one slight error in the step-by-step instructions, namely in Step 23:
23. Now type mount -o remount rw /system
That should read:
23. Now type mount -o remount,rw /system
The comma between "remount" and "rw" is very important, and there must not be any spaces before or after it. For those who are unfamiliar with Linux, that's a standard way to remount a read-only filesystem as read/write.
Without the comma, Step 25 will fail.
Another thing to beware of: After flashing the recovery image, if you boot the phone into normal operating mode before installing SuperSU, you'll need to reflash the recovery image again, since the stock firmware will automagically reinstall the stock recovery. This puzzled me on my first attempt at rooting.
