Which size should the ext3 partition have? Is 512 MB (the default created by ROM Manager) enough?

[Rom]04/07/12 Alex-V1.8 GB Sense HD ODEXED d2ext/Int2sd-rom is like made for desire!

I formatted my partition to EXT3 using an Ubuntu PC with Gparted months ago and it's worked perfectly ever since. So I'd recommend any bootable Linux CD with Gparted and use that. Android is Linux so I suspect that using Linux with Linux is not a bad idea.
Regarding the ROM - I'll back up my LeeDroid ROM using Recovery Nandroid Backup then, and give this ROM a go. Can I restore everything from Titanium including all system settings? I am very keen to give this ROM a try as I want something that is as lean as possible, but with Sense. Will be interesting to give Sense HD a try too. Is it much better? Does it work with HTCSense.com or is that service reserved for the new HD phones?

System settings? Don't do the email one - it's a new app on HD (v3 vs v2 from froyo) - you'll get force closes if you do. I restored browser bookmarks, sms messages, blue tooth pairings and wifi access points with no problems.

On the first site post 2 under make ext..i posted a program burn as cd and boot with it...it contains all you need...make a big fat 32 patition and than a 1gb ext 3

Thanks for the heads up, I will set up email again from scratch - you mean just the HTC mail app, not the Gmail app? Everything else ok to restore? What do you use to backup and restore SMS messages? I seem to lose these each time I upgrade or change ROMs?
SMS Backup and Restore from the market - free. Works perfect. The dev also does apn backup/restore if you need it, I'm lucky, TMUK apn's always seem to be in the roms I use.
I use TB too, I only ever restore apps+app data, never system data, had too many issues. Just means you have to set up wifi again, for me anyway, I only use 2 main ones so no issue but you can find out which file to backup by searching on XDA (I've forgotten).
Gmail seems to just set itself up , I don't restore it.

I have tried flashing this kernel a few times but i always get a boot loop. Had to re-flash the whole rom again. Any ideas why?
it can be that your phone can not handle the havs...don´t know why it is on some phones...
You can try to flash the original kernel from the rom (siberes svs kernel)

I use titanium. After restoring sms message settings and storage nothing shows up but if I reboot once - all my old messages are back
Yes I use the HTC Mail app - I don't like or use the Gmail one.
mmhhh..Can you try it with 1gb...also you can download quock system view or android system info to check free space again...

edit: maybe if you have a nand backup restore it and make a backup with my backup...flash rom again and have a look if its the same or not

Thanks Alex. Not too bothered with flashing the kernel as I think the one that came with the rom is great. Just curious really. Tried all the other hd roms but this is the best!

I flashed after running the rom for a few days. Seems to be OK with other hd roms but not this one.

the new files (idea from snq..thx for this)...have repacked apks for better speed and memory footprint...this works really good...but the files are much bigger...and the data partition is not enough....)
What i must say is:
its really the fastest data2ext gb hd rom because all files are on system partition and not on data or sd-ext partition (only the weather videos are on sdcard)

Hereby I present to you the Alex-V 1.8 A2SDX and the INT2SD-S version with some little modifications by me, all credits still go to Alex though!
Works on both Stock and CM7r2 Hboots!
Last time I tried out this rom I had some difficulties with the superuser app and had a few other bugs and therefore decided to fix it up a little bit ^.^
I already included the espresso bliss theme from Alex-V in this rom, a different battery percentage icon and I've included the paginated app drawer.
Replaced the Superuser app and it's components by SuperSU, cleaned up the rom and updated the apps etc..
Try it out and let me know how it works for you!

P.S.: Still working on different mods but can't seem to get it completely right, trying to add Swype to clear notifications..
But I've been able to modify the launcher rosie button to launch "Browser" or the app LaunchKey instead of the customization menu
Through the app LaunchKey you can choose yourself which app you want to be launched
This customized Rosie.apk is not included in the rom.zip though so you'll have to push it into the rom yourself.. You can do this accordingly:
- Remove Rosie.apk
- Rename RosieBrowser.apk to Rosie.apk
- Set the permissions to rw-r-r-- (or when using INT2SD-S use rwxr-xr-x permissions, not sure if that makes any difference or not but all the system apps have that set as default in this version)

Edit2: I seem to have gotten INT2SD-S to work with my modifications! Seems really nice and fast! Uploading it as we speak, link will be up in a bit!
Edit3: It's uploaded and ready to download! The modified Rosie.apk should work with both versions.
Edit4: Edited the Rosie.apk so the Customize button will now launch the app "LaunchKey" through which you can set which app it will launch, now everyone can choose what he wants that button to use for after he pushed the RosieLaunchkey.apk to his system/app and removes the old Rosie.apk and sets the proper permissions11apps/mods/apk´s updated for Gingerbread Sense HD 26.06.11
