Default AT&T Only Some Places I`m Throttled

Okay So I live in just an HSPA area AT&T has only had it for a little over a year before that it was EDGE haha. Well anyway I`m on the unlimated data plan so I get throttled at about 5GB each month well since im only in an 3G area I switch my APN to wap.cingular and then im not throttled! But I took a few day trip out to the coast and in Greensboro on LTE I was throttled down to .45 down and upload was terriible, I get into Raleigh I was getting 30-45 megs down and 10-20 megs up! Was NOT throttled the ENTIRE time there Yesterday!! I was currently at the 18GB mark in my current cycle and did prob 10GB there. Well Now im in Wilmington, NC and on LTE I`m throttled to a hault! so I`m having to use wap.cingular on 3G here which 3G is pretty decent 6-10megs down.

But why is it that im throttled in only some places?

There was a thread somewhere where this had happened to others. You may have to search the forums I couldn't find it.

I've heard of this happening... I'm unlimited on the grandfather plans well and just got the 5gb message.

Att is lame.

I vaguely remember it being mentioned that throttling is based on network traffic. So if you are in a place that has high network traffic, you get throttled as I opposed to a low traffic area.

I use to get throttled on my unlimited plan in the D.C. area monthly but haven't been throttled once in Oklahoma City even though I've been using approximately the same amount of data.

I could be remembering wrong, but that's what I remember reading back when they first started throttling people.

I don't think att throttles you without a message.

Call them and ask anyways.

I have been on my 6th consecutive month with 10gb+ and never got the message

Yes they do throttle without telling or sending the text.... I get throttled on 3G every month right after 5gb maybe a few mb afterwards. But I was at the 18 GB mark and was not throttled hardly on my 3 day trip unless I was on 3G. Lte I was not.
