Mine is pretty perfect but it does have random instances of issues. Turning on the show touches option u can see the stuck pixel sometimes. And in some games its weird when u can see touches but the game doesn't recognises it. Kindda feels more software than hardware to me
I agree it feels like software or firmware. After using it for a couple weeks I start to notice more of the random type issues.
Overall, my 32GB 4G/LTE model works fine. Yet infrequently the touch does not respond or seems to hang. I have not noticed restart/reboot during use and have not checked for it happening in the background. Therefore, I am ignorant if I have a restart/reboot issue.
The one thing I do most often is set Airplane mode whenever possible. CPU Spy reports more Deep Sleep cycles in Airplane mode with case cover closed (with magnet). I have set Wi-Fi advanced settings by unchecking "Scanning always available".
I recently discontinued my Nexus 7 3G (2012) prepaid AT&T service, and I purchased a new AT&T prepaid plan for my Nexus 7 (2013) 4G/LTE. The benefit was my new AT&T SIM activated on my Nexus 7 4G/LTE will get actual LTE service and speeds, and the new SIM works in my old Nexus 7 3G (2012) on 3G. The old AT&T SIM worked at HSPA but did not work at LTE speeds on my new Nexus 7 4G/LTE. After reactivating a new SIM on my Nexus 7 4G/LTE, for the same prepaid price, I get better overall speeds.
The big problem with AT&T SIM in new Nexus 7 4G/LTE is the Android Settings tethering option is unavailable.
I tried moving my T-Mobile SIM (free 2GB for 30 days plan offered with purchase) between new Nexus 7 4G/LTE and old Nexus 7 3G and it did not work at all in the Nexus 7 3G. Surprising to me, because AT&T SIM worked, so unsure if it is because T-Mobile plan was free. The big benefit (other than free 30 days) of T-Mobile SIM is free tethering working in Android Settings.
YMMV. Good luck.
