Can you add ICS to it?? ;-)

All kidding aside, this is an amazing ROM, best I've tried so far. If ou can add Vibration mode to the quick settings drop down would be great.

If grayn0de is using the Advanced Power Menu than you can just hold the power button and select vibrate from there.

I saw it there, it's just much easier if it's in the drop down menu, as it it in Tommy's ROM.
Not very important, but if it's easy to implement would be great...

I just flashed this rom last night. I tried MikMik and SOS prior to that, and although Mikmik was pretty good, it still had all that bloatware I couldn't get rid of. This rom has been great so far and my battery life is doing great. I know you're going for simple, which I love, but is there any way to get the music controls on the lockscreen? Or does go locker handle that? Thanks so much for this rom. i love it!

If you are referring to graphical music controls, yes, that is a function of HTCLockscreen.apk, which I've removed. However, I've implemented the Team Nocturnal Volume Rocker mod into the upcoming 0.0.4 final.

Might check to see if it is a part of Tommy's Extended Quick Settings mod (one of the options upon install). I actually think that was one of the three things he removed, though. I'm debugging a bootloop on my phone right now, so I cannot test this. Personally, I just hold the volume down key until it hits vibration mode. :rolleyes:

He removed it because it's in the APM. I figure either method is as inconvenient to get to :p

But original commenter, tommy will be dropping that feature in his next release. Just a heads up.

Okay, I'm having a weird issue. I had it a long time ago (don't even remember what ROM it was) but now I'm having it on this ROM. At first I thought it was just the particular app (Picasa Tool), but it seems to affect several of them.

Here's my problem (scenario below is an example):

I take three pictures of a cat.
I open up Picasa Tool (or JustPictures! or Picasa Mobile or ...).
I upload the three pictures to my Picasa album.
I delete the three pictures from my phone.
I take three pictures of a dog
I open up Picasa Tool (or JustPictures! or Picasa Mobile or ...).
And...... instead of seeing my three dog pictures, I see thumbnails for the cat pictures that I already deleted. Now if I upload them, it uploads the dog pictures, but I don't know what they really are unless I open them up or upload them.

So. Anyone have any ideas? I'm guessing not, but I figured it's worth a shot. I LOVE this ROM but I use my phone heavily for pictures that I batch upload to Picasa, and I can't keep "guessing" what I'm uploading. :(

/Kevin

EDIT: Okay, found this which explains it: http://bit.ly/IV4oKN

So is there something about this ROM that makes it present this issue? Most others I've tried worked fine, but this one (and several others) have the problem. I don't know what the commonality is.

Nicely done, Did you remove every possible sense related item (Without breaking the ROM of course)? I been wanting one like that which can give the most possible AOSP like experience. Going to give this a try. ;)

I don't think so. There's more you can remove. Bugreport.apk, GSD.adk, DCSStock, HTC location picker.apk and more. There are also libraries that can be removed as well. Just a heads up. :p

Not that I am aware of, unless it is the product of me removing a certain application or lib. TBH, I am not sure what could cause that, but I also have never used those programs. I will take a look and see if I see anything obvious.

LOL, yeah. I've been working on stripping things down more for the final release of 0.0.4. I've removed what was mentioned and more, already. There were a few I was originally unsure of. :p

Also look through the libraries. I got rid of 16 mb just there. And the resource folder too. Damn Sense. So fat. :p

-> added default_wallpaper.jpg to /system/customize/resource/
-> changed default ringtone to Glass.mp3
-> changed default notification to Vector.mp3
-> added green overscroll glow
-> added transparent notifications (40% black) for all QS mods
-> changed notification text color to white for all QS mods
-> moved battery bar to bottom of statusbar for all QS mods with battery bar
-> made flash player an optional install
-> added volume rocker mod
-> removed additional languages from most /system/app .apk files
-> pngout optimizations on most .apk files
-> moved SocialNetworkProvider.apk to Social Networking add-on
-> moved BatteryBarSettings.apk to appropriate GS mod directories in /system/opt
-> retweaked task killer values for stock kernel:
 		FOREGROUND_APP_MEM = 4096
 		VISIBLE_APP_MEM = 6144
 		PERCEPTIBLE_APP_MEM = 8192
 		HEAVY_WEIGHT_APP_MEM = 8192
 		SECONDARY_SERVER_MEM = 11264
 		HIDDEN_APP_MEM = 12288
 		EMPTY_APP_MEM = 39936
-> updated Underworld kernels to v0.4
-> updated Classic kernels to v1.2
-> updated GO Launcher EX to version 2.86

__AROMA Modifications__
-> Updated AROMA to 1.64 (see project changelog)

__removed__
-/system/app/Smith.apk
-/system/lib/libsmith.so
-/system/app/GSD.apk
-/system/app/BugReport.apk
-/system/app/DCSImpl.apk
-/system/app/DCSStock.apk
-/system/app/DCSUtility.apk
-/system/app/HtcLocationPicker.apk
-/system/app/QXDM2SD.apk
-/system/lib/libhtcqxdm2sd.so
-/system/lib/flashlite.so
-/system/lib/plugins/com.htc.flashlitplugin/
-/system/etc/init.d/00banner
-/system/etc/permissions/com.blockbuster.htc.lib.xml
-/system/customize/resource/*.jpg (except aroma_wallpaper.jpg)
-/system/etc/clockwidget/*
-/system/etc/amazon-kindle.properties
-/system/etc/com.htc.rss.xml

Slimmed it down a lot more. Still rooting through the filesystem to see what else I can yank out or make optional, but I think I pretty much got it all when combined with what was removed in past versions. :D

EDIT: I got the system down to 67MB used on first boot (with sd-ext). So that's an additional 14MB from the prior 0.0.4-preview shot I took. Anyone not running a2sd/dalvik2sd should have plenty of room for apps. ;)

I'm having an issue lately and was wondering if you can help me.
In tbepast few days when I go to the call log (using exDialer) it takes almost a minute for the contacts to show, I see only the numbers at first, then they changed into the names of contacts.

Is that the only place you are experiencing the slow down? Do contacts load slow with the default dialer or in the default contacts app? I've never used exDialer.

What happens is I press phone, it opens and I see the call log (which it's set to do) but I see only numbers and not contacts they belong too.
If I start typing right away a contact I'm looking for to call, it doesn't recognize anything for almost a minute, when I see the numbers in call log change to names, only then can I start looking for the contacts I wanna call.
Hope I splained it well, and hope even more that you can help... ;-)
Don't hold up the update release even a second because of this though!

Did you look into the Proxy settings? Is there a chance it could be implemented into 0. 0. 4?

& One problem I have is if I turn off 4g and go to airplane mode then turn it off it turns 4g back on. It's not a major major problem but WiMax is a pretty big battery drainer.

I don't even have near that many contacts to try to recreate this. I can only assume that it is a lot of data to be polled each time the app refreshes. Perhaps a low class SD card with ap2sd/dalvik2sd could cause it. Have you had that issue before on any other ROMS? Also, have you tried changing any of the memory manager values?

Did you look into the Proxy settings? Is there a chance it could be implemented into 0. 0. 4?

For Proxy settings: I have not looked too far into expanding the Settings menu yet, no. If I can find an example of a Sense 1.0 ROM with the wireless proxy settings enabled, to give me something to go by) I could attempt to recreate it.

For the 4G toggle: If 4G is off and you reboot (normal) the phone, does the
4G turn itself on?

    RC2 Release

    Version 0.0.4 RC2 is up!

    Check the OP. There are new installation instructions. Don't forget to take a look at the changelog if you are curious as to what changed.

    I really wanted to include the 'Alter Setup' option that I've been working on (formerly described as 'Modify Install'), but even after a full rewrite of 800 lines of code it still does not want to function properly. I wanted to give you guys a release, since I know it is overdue and people have been waiting, so I've blocked the feature in RC2. For now, a Clean Install will do much the same as the Alter Setup, but you'll lose app data (but not the apps themselves, if choosing the Backup/Restore option), since it will format /system and /data.

    Thank you all for being so patient on this one! As always, post bugs/requests/etc here and I'll handle everything as soon as I can.

    The final release of 0.0.4 is coming next and, if I feel it is worthy, it will become version 1.0.0, proper. This one is going to take a lot of time, as there is a LOT left that I want to do and need to learn to have AlterROM to the point that I am willing to give it 1.0 release status.
    5
    AlterScript
    *Included in AlterROM Redux as of v1.0.1

    AlterScript is a script created to maintain AlterROM. It is still a W.I.P. and some features (such as Odex) are experimental. Always make sure you have a good NANDroid backup before doing any system wide changes. Use at your own risk. YMMV.

    For best results, it's recommended to run AlterScript through ADB, rather than directly on the device. Not sure why, but the Odex option will occasionally freeze the phone. Nothing is damaged, but it requires a battery pull (or adb reboot) to recover.

    Location on AlterROM: /sdcard/AlterROM/scripts/
    Download Latest Version: Current in AlterROM Redux v1.0.1*

    Options:
    • Odex AlterROM (Experimental)
      If you odex AlterROM, you'll need to immediately reboot to recovery and wipe cache and dalvik-cache. Script will reboot device upon completion. Also, you will need to reodex after every version or mod flash and possibly clean install some version.
    • Re-optimize Performance
      This will re-optimize performance settings to AlterROM defaults. Nothing more, nothing less.
    • Cleanup AlterROM
      Coming soon...
    5
    Version 1.0.1 Released

    AlterROM Redux v1.0.1 has been released!
    Please check the first 3 posts of this thread for details. Changelog in AROMA installer.

    THINGS TO NOTE
    • Odex has been completely pulled from default support and is no longer an option in AROMA. If you are currently running 1.0.0 odex, you will have to perform a clean install. I am sorry for the inconvenience here, but odex as I had it was causing a number of performance/stability issues. You do not have to perform any pre-wipes. The installer will not wipe sd-ext, so if you are partitioned for apps2sd, you should retain your apps. Always be sure to have a backup of anything you care about, though.
    • After flashing (Install or Upgrade), you will have a couple new folders in the AlterROM folder on your sdcard. 'morph' is a placeholder for future NinjaMorph mods. 'scripts' contains AlterScript, which is detailed in post #3.
    • AlterScript odex option will not always work on the device. Use
      Code:
      adb shell sh /sdcard/AlterROM/scripts/AlterScript
    • NinjaMorph mods and updates to AlterScript will be posted in posts #2 & #3. These are a W.I.P.

    The Future of AlterROM Redux
    I just want everyone to be aware of the fact that I am transitioning from the OG Evo to the new Evo 4G LTE and will not have my OG for too much longer. I feel this ROM has reached a level of maturity that does not require me to make major changes to the system, so all that is left is maintenance and little tweaks here and there which can easily be done without needing the device in hand. I will continue to work on AlterROM Redux, but the changes will likely not be major ones. If there are any major changes to the system that require heavy beta testing, I'll call for more testers, but likely things will continue on as they do now.
