Best chinese phones out right now with custom ROMs?

I have a friend that wants a cheap phone and Ive heard a lot about Chinese phones that are low price and pack a huge punch. So I wanted to know if there are any XDA recommendations out there that have active development going on.

Your only bet will be an Oppo the rest of the china based phones are crap and most are just clones that get no development at all.
